Epsilon won't be returning especially in any near future. This forum has turned into 4chan and the stupidity that's allowed in the useless void has been spilling into the rest of the forum for far too long to contain anymore.
I've argued this point with a few members but they don't see it since they're partially part of this problem. Such is why I don't even go into the PC games thread anymore, it's not about gaming anymore, it's all about who can post the most stupid ass derp emoticons and derail threads the quickest then proceed to flame bait people.
You can <3 blame <3 Lutz <3 cry baby ass <3 for completely <3 un <3 doing everything Epsilon worked on <3 and took credit <3 where <3 c <3 r <3 e <3 d <3 i <3 t <3 wasn't deserved for most of it. The rest, the downfall of VIP which used to be hard to get into, when it was about members being the roll models of the forum and now it's been completely thrown to the side.
Just remember him as the moderator who tried to spend what little free time he had to try and clean this forum up back to the golden days when it wasn't such a spam fest.
Bitch at me all you want, the truth is the truth and this forum is complete garbage. I could organize the issues better than I put them but it's all for naught.

It's true I am very busy.
Theres also the fact that the forum has in recent time degenerated to a point where trolling is no longer just a means to an end, but the end itself. And the regulars who frequent this forum are a huge part of this, as was mentioned by Spykez, many of the VIP's like trolling one another and while I myself could see it being funny in some instances, it becomes tiresome when it's impossible to just have a normal discussion on a forum without someone trying to bait or troll you in some way or another.
Given that many of the regulars troll and find it funny, if I myself no longer want a part of this I could just start banning people and saying "no you can't do that".
But that would be putting my own needs or ideas of what the forum is supposed to be ahead of the established community, since so many people do this and such a huge percentage of the regulars does it.
And I'd like to think that during my time here I haven't done that to such an extent.
So if I no longer fit in with the rest of the community it's simply just a matter of having to move on and let the community evolve in whatever way it wants or chooses.
I'd love to stick around but I just don't see myself participating in the forum to make it worthwhile.
Also theres the matter of being unable to have well founded discussions here, do to the common practice of people not reading anything but the last page, so if you take your time coming up with well thought out arguments about a given subject, if you're unlucky to end up at the bottom of a page, it's doubtful that anyone will ever read it or answer in a fashion that might allow for further elaboration.
Having realised this about a year or so ago I stopped coming up with these long posts and talking about stuff that interests me such as games and design of the same. As the forums just move too fast for such posts to have any merit.
This is not a goodbye post. However my visits here will be few and far between.

Yes, this has been a major annoyance for me as well, but I'm seeing it happen on myself as well. I used to post long posts all the time, but threads move to fast, and lately all the posts, that I put much time nad thought in to ended up being ignored by almost everyone.
I know we're already doing this in this thread, but perhaps there's a need to openly formulate our expectations towards ourselves - and try to stick to it. You are also right about the useless void, it's sad that so many posts are from that damned 9gag (the new asshole of the internet).
Also, I think a reason we might feel this way, is that perhaps the forum got too popular for its own good.

I don't think it's really that bad. When I am frustrated I tend to write some lengthy post, and yet they are not omitted (AC:R topic, ME3 topic, Skyrim before release).
Now sure, there is trolling here and there, but this is IMO what makes this board special- not every trolling activity is a bannable offense.
And come on Epsi, you tend to troll sometimes too, for instance before release of Dragon Age or Skyrim.

Looks like the Hump is in need of some new and active moderators now. AFAIK, right now only Pumpy actively posts while Horrordee, Invasor and Mad_Max can be seen checking the boards occasionally.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Well I for one get what Epsilon is on about. Too easily are longer posts simply ignored. Especially when you throw some facts in there's a bunch of people who just disregard them and try to provoke others. Some of us actually like reading people serious thoughts on subjects, preferably strengthened by some facts and strong arguments, but more often than not once you start having such a discussion there's someone breaking it up, provoking flames from you.

Epsilon is pretty much dead on. I come here a lot since I have my access back but I barely post cause I can't relate nor do I enjoy trolling that much. Does the trolling induce some laughs? Sure, but novelty quickly wears off when u see everyone doing same thing million times in one thread alone. And again meaningful posts are rare and the ones that people make are hidden amongst a sea of spam and page after page of troll.
My own thread in VIP about this very issue was being derailed and trolled within a few posts... So I give up... Like epsilon I can't justify banning anyone or deleting posts (would have to delete hundreds a day) to stop the trolling since most people say they don't have a problem and are ok with things and I've always been a majority rule type of guy.
This place is definitely different than what it was years ago though, whether the change was for the better is a matter of opinion.

Not sure if we do or not, back in the day we lacked mods cause of flame wars and rude people and trolls... I don't see too much flame wars and hatred and people seem to be ok with the trolling.
And I don't post much cause I can't relate to the way people post, but I definitely log in every day and read up on stuff. And pumpy lives at NFOhump, he has a cot in the boilerroom.
