What a boring piece of shit the demo is... didn't finish it. If the whole game is like this, I will probably won't finish that either. This comes from someone who managed to play ME2 multiple times. The combat is actually worse, don't know why exactly, but it is. Also, how the hell can you fuck up so badly that all the animations are worse than in the first game from the franchise?! Also, I'm getting sick of this shit. They haven't done anything to improve the engine build on which the game is running since the first ME. Same thing with customization. No wonder they keep vomiting Derp Effect shit so frequently since all they do is record "awesome cinematic stuff" and shove it in the same damn game they made years ago. Fuck off, BioWhore! I so hope they go bankrupt at some point (it won't happen, I know... ME has become just like CoD right now).

Tried it. Animations are indeed quite horrible. I wouldn't mind it as much, but the game tries very hard to be movie-like and such an obvious flaw hurts the whole image badly. Bioware should really take some lessons from Naugty Dog in this regard.
Combat seems more or less the same as in the second game. Sure, there's the enhanced melee (which bogs down to weak attack and a powerfull attack), but the essence of gameplay seems almost unchanged. One thing I found strange are the cooldowns, though. In the first mission they were very, very short, but in the second they suddenly became 10-25 seconds, which, for an Adept at least, means pretty dull gameplay - 10 seconds on a most basic of powers is waaaay to long. I'm not sure how it works and where does the difference come from, but I hope it'll be slightly different in the final game.
Another thing to note: character advancement during missions seems to be back, at least for the demo.
All in all, forgetting some obvious presentation flaws, the game might be just... good. Probably not more, but "good" is fine by my book.

Dear lord it's so bad, the animations come directly from the Pro Evolution Soccer games, plus they added a weird "dark&nextgen" palette that makes everything look washed-out. 
The textures are the same as ME2 (=bad) and aside from the super-melee and a couple of new moves the shooting is the same as before, Gears of Bore deluxe: sci-fi edition.
The story is also very  and "simplified" so far, something that you would expect from a blockbuster flick a-la Independence Day . Fuck off Bioware

The whole writing is so bad that it makes you dumber with each new thing the game tells/shows you.

maybe the demo is just there to attract all the kids and GOW derps , i tend not to be pre judgmental about it , it's not like you're gonna buy it anyway .
reserve judgment for the full game , cuz no way in hell it's as bad as you guys say it is*haven't tried the demo yet*.

It's Mass Effect 2.5... 
Thankfully the old default FemShep pops out once you select the custom character, for a while I was scared to be limited between A-Toilet-Seat-Has-More-Charisma-Than-Me male Shepard or that feminine abomination that is the new default FemShep.
First mission was mind numbingly boring and unimpressive... pure corridor shooter derp action. But at least they had the balls to kill the kid, but only after 3 chances to do it.
game runs pretty smooth and the mouse is pretty responsive, kudos to biowarEA on that.
Second mission was much better, a bit like ME2 but I counted at least 2 divisions on which you could ACTUALLY flank your enemies or attack them from higher ground, definitely a step above ME2. Now they just need to have this happening on a more frequent basis throughout the game.
Shooting seems to be pretty much the same, but I found myself jumping from one cover to another when I intended to contour the chest high wall and move on instead of vaulting it like a derp (so cienmatic!1). Loved that Matlock gun, BTW, simply ignored every other weapon on the 2nd mission.
As for the dialogues/choices... 
WTF happened to this biowarEA:
You have TWO choices. TWO. FUCKING. CHOICES.
And this on a game that is claimed to be more accessible to people who didn't play the previous games?
How about some dialogue with at least some exposition? 
So, it seems like a ME2.5 pewpewpew wise... not too keen on the RPG part but on the other hand this is only a demo.

Any word on what stage of the game the demo is from? Given it went gold a couple of days ago, I assume it's a piece of the final build, but it sounds awful.

I think demos take a month to get approved by Microsoft\Sony so hopefully this isn't final build as it has some glitches...
