Call of Duty: Black Ops has been voted the greatest game ending of all time.
Activision's shooter beat Halo Reach and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time to the crown, in a poll carried out by the Guinness World Records 2012: Gamer's Edition.
The ending was also deemed better than the finales to Portal, Final Fantasy VII and God of War.
Fellow Call of Duty title Modern Warfare 2 also features on the list, which was voted for by more than 13,000 gaming fans.
The top ten gaming endings of all time in full:
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Halo: Reach
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
God of War
Red Dead Redemption
Portal
Metal Gear Solid 4
Final Fantasy VII
Heavy Rain
I wonder which ending of Heavy Rain was considered
Well hopefully it was the proper one, but with the morons we have these days... they probably ended up killing three of the characters and letting Shaun die
Yea, it was so great I don't even remember what the fuck it was! All I remember is that the first mission took place in Cuba, that's it.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

wait wait wait. isnt that the game where you come to the surface and theres a scene right out of a michael bay film, with american war ships and some convenient jets flying overhead just as you come up? THAT ending? BEST EVAR?
just no...
im guessing this is purely for console games, because otherwise i would fully expect the witcher to be on that list, top 5 easily, holy shit that was an epic ending.

RDR going to mexico scene is one of the best moments in gaming for me.
Guess I should pick the game back up again. Bought it early last year and I've played like 2-3 hours before I got bored. Shooters with gamepads are just so boring and unsatisfying to me.
I have the sensation that ending in games is lately a very neglected aspect, or at least it doesn't have the same importance as before.
There are some exceptions (Portal 2, Bastion for example) but generally the developers tend to focus on achieving an impressive start/1st part of the game, leaving the 2nd part/ending at the mercy of mediocrity.
The fact that many "gamers" today don't even bother to finish games might have influenced that, or maybe it's just the cause of everything after all
My vote would go for RDR, The Darkness, Max Payne 12, HL2, Mafia
Proboably something else i dont remember right now.
but as for the game from the list, Defienietly RDR. I've cried like a chile
