So after a nearly 2 year break from studies, I'm returning to them from friday. Every Monday-Friday till the end of May I'll be attending classes for nearly 2-4 hours. The problem is that I've nearly forgotten how to sit through lectures and talk to fellow students. In these past 2 years I've interacted and briefly worked with people older than me and now I get along better with people older than me.

Its become impossible for me to talk to people my age and I myself just can't get along with them. I'm also more comfortable in holding a conversation with older people and talking with them is much much easier for me. Whatever the reason is... I just don't know how I'll be able to survive these classes.

I'd greatly appreciate any help with this.

1 and 2 are still amazing.

With all your memeticons, one would expect you to be able to communicate to younger people :trollfacehd:

Well it's not that you're going to the kindergarten xD

People in their 20s/mid-20s are adults, I'm pretty sure you're going to be just fine after some minutes of familiarizing. Everything will be even easier once you find a suitable group for you, something a-la "Community" Very Happy

Heh, that's true. Oh well, it wasn't so bad. Talked around a bit. The teacher started class just after a few minutes so I guess there won't be any break where I'll have to be faffing around. Aww Yeah

I graduated couple of years ago and started working. Been working now for 3.5 years. But 1.5 year ago I decided I wanted to do something else, so I enrolled in the first year of university again when I was 25 old.

It is funny to see how much you evolve in a short period of time. You will be fine, lots of student are insecure or just crappy students Just use your extra years of wisdom to help them around or work together with them. They are all adults, nobody is bitchy or annoying or wondering why the old guy is in the class.

I hardly go to the lessons because i am still working, so i only attend like 1 or 2 lessons per semester. I do meet some of my fellow students during lunch breaks or in the evening or on saturdays. Mutual benefits, I copy their courses and I provide them with some study tips or general knowledge or pages for group works. 1st year students are sooooooo lazy, they sit around 2h to do shit you can do in 15minutes at home.

So anywayz, you will be all right. I have worked together with students that are 5-6-7-8 years younger than me and I never had any problems with it. After all, you decide to be in the lessons, so you at least have the same interests.

Just behave as being one of them. Try to not behave 'superior' because you are older, unless they of course open the conversation with 'you are older, with your experience, what would you do'. Should be no problem, but you have to accept it of course that although you are older you are just the same as the younger people (during those lessons).

I don't understand why you think about it so much? As you get older, you will have to work together with more and more younger people Wink You are not in kindergarten or high school anymore where someone is cooler than someone else because he is 2 years older 14 or 16 y is different mentally, but 24 or 26 is just the same and 45 and 55 is just the same.

Haha.. no its definitely not a case of me thinking I'm superior to them or anything its just that maybe my thinking has become more and more old-fashioned? You know, funny thing is that most of them are around my age. The youngest are max 2 years younger than me and there are quite a few who are older than me too! What you said really hit me about me and them choosing the same course. Nothing is gonna happen if I just keep to myself, you're right... I should talk a bit here and there. See how it goes.

Thanks spankie for the wonderful advice and ixi for the luck Very Happy

You only need to communicate with the bimbos so you can fuck them in teh butt. That's what I used to do, all my friends were outside of my studies.
