Explain to me, how can something be a fail when it's not even released yet? It's BETA, a word that people don't know the meaning of Smile

im not talking about the game, how could i. I never played it and i dont judge from clips.

the fail i am referring to, is their handling (or lack thereof) of the incoming stress on their servers, which was totally in their control, they knew with how many people they had to count. And they absolutely failed at that.

Now it probably wont matter to people like you or heck, even me (i survived AO, i can survive anything) , but dont forget that the BIG bulk of customers arent like us. Its the 50/50 crowd, the casual gamer who dont reads about games but buys them because of the shiny nice picture on the box lol (replace this sneak peak with shiny picture and you should understand where i am getting at).

thats the fail im talking about, failing to cather to the 50/50 crowd and as much as i hate them like most here do aswell, the problem is, those are the customers who make or break game companies (and mmo's)

sad, sure, true, yes.

(its also that 50/50 crowd which is the reason, games getting derper and derper. Not because of consoles, but because of those gamers. Offer and Demand)

You don't know how a server handles the load untill it actually happens, if you actually work with servers you know that shit can hit the fan really fast, and if things go wrong they go wrong big time.
Load is something you NEVER can be ready for, hell even WoW on Cata release had downtime with login servers..

I just don't get it why people get upset and go FAIL THIS FAIL THAT FAIL FAIL FAIL, when something goes wrong in a BETA test.
You got a FREE key for a FREE weekend of playing (and expect them to make up for this) in a BETA test, you didn't pay or loose anything, yet you still complain... Rolling Eyes

hm, saus, first off, stop exaggerating.

second, this isnt about free, they want me to "sneak peak" their game so i potentionally buy it (its an advertising).

so yes, we have the right to complain about.

But what i really understand, is why you so fanaticly defend this game. Why would you ? Can you really be angry about me, because i want to try out this game and see for myself why you are so euphoric about it ?

Because so far, i stayed very objective, while you aren't, so may wanna recheck this thread and rethink your replies.

thanks.

this kinda fail shouldnt be happening to begin with, im sorry, but there is no how or why nor anything that can make that not true Smile

they werent prepared and failed to even handle these small sample of people (they had exact control of the number of people who would login) and didnt prepare at all for it (obviously).

this kinda fail is inexcusable and will them cost a lot of potencial customers (sure doesnt motivate me to buy their product at this time hehe).

It looks more like a marketing ploy than sneak peek event to be honest. Betas/sneak peeks or whatever gets people to talk about the game and raise public awareness. And I bet that's what they are aiming for. No matter how bad these events turn out, people will still buy it, because they are stuck in "oh it's just a beta" mindset.

No, i'm not going to discuss this with you as it would be the same as talking to a brick wall, you do this in EVERY MMO topic on here, just look thru them and you will see that you ALWAYS go into discussions and say the exact opposite as everyone else. Typical you.
You go rage about how you can't play and how it's fail and i will watch some tv and come back once it works again. Smile

Yes, I bought SWTOR. And I kinda anticipated that I'll be disappointed, because I was let down with the beta events. But I still went ahead and bought it. At no point I said "it'll be better, this was just a beta". I still remember how I criticized the beta and what I didn't like about it. I guess I bought it just to confirm I was right all along Smile

You don't seem to get a very simple fact. If they want my money, they need to deliver the services and the product the way they should (as in the way they presented it).

How do they want to claim trust and a market share with services that have been USED and TESTED before and that yet still fail? Going wrong in a place that should be familiar doesn't bode well for oneself.

I can understand a beta launch with 30 mins - let's say 60 mins - delay. But heck, Smile it's been like... 4 hrs. Anyway, nuff whining. Time to get back to playing something else.

Anything could have happend, trust me that they wouldn't want this to go wrong, because they know it will bite them in the ass.
Just for once, stop moaning and just wait people, just because of a mistake it isn't a fail instant...
Humans make mistakes, should we be punished and written off for everyone one of them...?

I personally wouldn't call this a complete capitalized "Fail". But what I don't understand (read: I hardly find excuses for it) is how come they've been through this before and yet they still managed to screw it up.

Unless NCSoft hacked the shit out of them ofc. Troll Dad

Well its not a beta and cause its sneak peak and not beta, almost nothing was tested/used for such a large scale of players, and trust me that even 2.5k or 5k players can be deadly for alot of servers... I want to play too, but still I will wait till they finally start it.. I dont really care when, I just wanna test the game before I actually spend some money..

Mate, no offence Smile , but what part you didn't get out of: they already have Tera going up in Korea (thus HUGE amount of players hammering the servers involved)?

And you do realize that the company that introduces the game to Europe or the one that introduces it to the US are not the same as the one in Korea. Three different companies good sir, sadly.

You mean F2P MMO publisher Frogster. Yea, tru dat. Not surprised though, eh.

They should call themselves Failster from now on. Razz

Yea, I am pissed...

EDIT

IT, QA & the developers of TERA are currently working on the current issues with the database & servers. We don't have any ETA yet, if we have more information, we'll share them with you right away! ~Raven - facebook wall update

Yeah, like I said. Stuff like this happens, hardware can fail etc. BUT the thing is, they knew how big the test was gonna be. They have the Bluehole people there and the game is out in Korea. How the heck did they not prepare? I mean it's not only the connection that was raped but the hardware and servers failed too. Just look at SWTOR, the stress test weekend. A shitload more people were playing and trying to login then there were for Tera, yet their servers remained ok and aside from large queues, they were stable, up and running. So Frogster was not prepared it seems.

Edit: Also, I'm not complaining, I'm just saying. Smile
