Just played through Independence War 2, so I suspect this will be a huge disappointment. Still, great to see someone trying to keep the genre alive, will try it out asap. Thanks for the headsup!
The sound effects are bland as fuck, the entire soundtrack consists of a bushman beating on a drum (not exactly space type music, or epic), and combat feels dull, despite the actual ships controlling well.
Also, not sure if this is a bug or by design, but the lead indicator is completely inaccurate.
It tried to be Freelancer, but simply didn't have the budget to pull off the epicness. At least they tried.

If been replaying freespace 1 with the openfs engine lately. Doubt that this will come close, but I might try as soon as I finish freespace 2.

I can't seem to get this to run - getting a load of 'Function not found' errors on execution... anyone have an inkling as to why?
Is the game installed / unpacked properly?
(Or maybe it's not that error at all, missing or it can't find the specific data, maybe due to a folder mismatch or what it could be.)

MSVCR is that VC++ redistributable mess, you can get a pretty good installer for all of it via the MyDigitalLife Windows 7 forums or to make it easy from here - http://www.mediafire.com/?j8ak28i8u8a5a9c
(V11, I just got V10 a few days ago, usually it's just improvements to the bat file installer.)
(It's a self extracting archive but I just use Winrar and unpack it myself.)
It does a check if your administrator, plus it does run low level commands so of course it will be detected by a program scanning for such changes.
(You can just open the bat files manually, it's all in text with the VC++ archives unpacked and in separate folders, slight renaming to avoid some pushy MS security updates which are older than the included files.)
EDIT: As it installs and uninstalls software it's also detected come to think of it.
(Not a bad idea to use a AV/Malware protection program though I use MSE and SpyBot myself, SpyBot is going to hell though according to the various Beta 2.0.0 reports of it so that might go soon.)
Yes it's a full package of the latest versions of all redists instead of going trough the fifteen or so separate redists and installing the latest ones that way, I'd link to the forum topic directly but they share Windows software there so I can't.
Did it uninstall the old VC redistributables correctly? (Since it's likely still reading from the repository folder WxW or what it's called.)
(You should only have seven all in all in the add/remove program window, two each for 2005, 2008 and 2010 and then one for the F# version.)
Otherwise it's something more complicated, that NTDll issue (Being a core Windows file.) is a bit odd though I'll see what I can find.
(I take it you have Windows 7 / Vista x64 updated to the latest service pack.)

Hmm, seems I have no luck at all at starting the game. Using Theta's initial release patched to the latest update (which sprung out some hours ago). The launch process is only consisted in turning the splash screen up, followed by a black screen and an ominous 'Sol Exodus has stopped working'. And that's all there is. Anyone in a similar footing?
