Eh? As good as this game is, there isn't that much diversity in enemies and zones. The diversity you speak of is just using the same assets, which are low in variety, in a different package now and then. Both aspects are also very low detailed. Comparing the Witcher 2 or Skyrim to this game on the technical aspect is extremely skewed.
Witcher 2 is my top RPG this year, so don't get me wrong. Even with the seemingly rushed third act, I like it's pace and narrative, and the more mature story line better. And to me there is no RPG with better graphics(lighting, textures, etc...) than Witcher 2.
My point is that given the limitations of the Wii, each area of Xenoblade felt much more unique, whether by art design, sound, music or just general atmosphere than Skyrim. And I don't know how far you have gotten in Xenoblade, but there are more unique Mechon designs(not retextures), including bosses and such, alone than there enemies in Skyrim. And the Skyrim UI...that was just a kick in the genitals to be honest.
Here are my settings. Although i don't think i have any special settings. I i just took the screenshots at the right moment The version i use of Dolphin is 3.0-96-dirty-ICC. But i don't think that matters regarding graphics.
@Grouch: are you playing it on the Wii itself or with Dolphin on a high resolution screen? On the Wii, the game really looks bad. What you're seeing on PC is the power of emulation.

I played the first 80 or so hours on my Wii. Like I said though, I have a somewhat older projector with a very good scaler. That plus component cables makes it look very good compared to the current crop of TVs without decent analog scalers. Remember that the Wii is not an HD console in truest sense. My old Sony Vega(tube) also does it justice. My 5 year old Pioneer elite plasma looks best, but I don't use that regularly for gaming.
Has there been any other good JRPG's for the wii ?.
If you are into sRPGs, then I recommend the two Fire Emblem games: Path of Radiance(GC) and Radiant Dawn. I originally bought my Wii just to play those two games. I've only played through three Wii games including Xenoblade.
Something really wrong with this festering pile of bullshit. Im now at xoxs or whatever the hell kind of crap name he has and i don't stand a chance in hell. I tried looking at some videos and reading on the net, difference is i see them getting damage on him by using normal abilities once in a while, me? never. And they say 1 toppe should be enough, but i toppled him once and he was up again with 75% hp or so. This is why i normally skip these jap fucking shit games, it's a manageable difficulty until you meet a fucking wall.
Just started playing this on Dolphin and having a blast such a great game!
Surprisingly enough it runs very well on my old c2d e7600@3,5ghz i use this build: http://www.mediafire.com/?c4bflt718v9h9i0 i found on dolphin forums, no audio stutter and constant full speed, very rarely freezes but i just save often, i turned fog emulation back on to get the backrounds working correctly but didnt change anything else.
Thanks! I'll check it out, see how it goes. It'd be nice to get a revision that really does play Xenoblade perfectly, without any audio stuttering or framerate issues (and my comp is no slouch either) I'm also waiting for the emulator to start handling The Last Story better too, since performance plummets in towns and populated areas
I finally started playing this on Dolphin. I had the sound bug, so I used the patched version that somebody on the Dolphin forums posted (V3.1 or so). The only problem with that is, is that this version somehow does not support the custom high-res textures, as the did not use the latest Dolphin version (or his is older, doesn't really matter anyway).
Does somebody have a Dolphin version that has the sound fixed and supports the custom textures?

I maxed out the graphics and I still have to limit the FPS.
Also using the texture pack.
not so flawless when you compare side by side with real wii version, but still very good for people who don't have a wii. i have a kickass pc that can run this game silky smooth on emu, but playing it on wii just feels so much better (even if lower res is kinda meh).
How can playing it on the Wii "feel so much better"? >_> The game looks better and runs better on a decent-spec PC, there is simply no contest between platforms -- as long as the game is running/sounding correct, which takes a lot of tinkering on specific SVNs to find the right balance.
feels better because runs without problems, well it's a wii game played on a wii. duh
for me, higher res on pc doesn't make up for other emu related problems.
I honestly don't know what problems you're referring to, because other than the older non-LLE audio crackling there have been no emulator issues. As long as your comp is powerful enough, the game runs - and looks - fantastic. I had issues on older emulator SVNs because, like I said, it's a pain to find the right revision that works but when you do, it's glorious and I wouldn't change it for anything.
Right now my copy runs full speed and (touch wood!) hasn't had any more audio crackles. The visuals are great, the performance is great, everything is great. I played it on the Wii when I went back to England a couple weeks ago and it just felt lacking.
Xenoblade worked perfectly for me on dolphin, good thing that the xbox controller has similar button labels, makes it easier to map the buttons. Even better that there is a xenoblade mod now for the 360 button layout.
Don't get *too* excited by the URL title though... it's only coming to the *new* Nintendo 3DS, with the upgraded hardware. I foresee this being incredibly rocky for Nintendo and many owners of the classic 3DS, especially when games start coming out that only support the *new* 3DS and customers buy them for their old devices. Hopefully Nintendo names this system uniquely so that customers aren't fooled.
And here i was already excited. But then again I'm not really surprised by this movie. Nintendo is really unfriendly when it comes to their hardware/software.
Yeah, their 3DS stuff is really bizarre lately. Two basic models, small and XL, then the new 2DS and now comes an entirely new and upgraded "New 3DS" in small and XL. Not to mention the circle-pad pro addon and now the included C-stick for the "New" system. It's nothing new though, half a dozen Gameboy models, half a dozen NDS models
I just think this "New" system is going to unnecessarily splinter the market, especially once games start coming that *require* the new 3DS. Sorry, looks like you've got to go out and buy ANOTHER 3DS.
Dear lord. The more info keeps popping out the more retarded all of this is. This is a huge fuck you from Nintendo but then again I expected nothing less. New exclusive games/software.
