Well, first of all, it's not like they would go bankrupt if they decided to paint them a different color. And second, not all military equipment gets used in their wars. There are a fuckton of stuff lying around all over the country being in reserve, used in training, etc. And I bet there are quite a few of those vehicles (Bradleys?) that will never ever be used for anything whatsoever and are a complete waste of money that could have been used more constructively. But got to feed the military industry...

Moving a bunch of new old stock parts from one side of the country to the other hardly indicates 'war'. They are likely being sent to the east coast to replace a number of aging and soon to be decommissioned counter-parts.

Yeah, the longest train I could find after a quick search was 3.5 miles long and had 9 engines spread around in it. And the freight cars were double loaded with containers.
