Quote:
In the world that Vessel takes place in, everything has been transformed due to M. Arkwright’s new invention, allowing for the complete manipulation and control of liquid. Huge industries use the invention to operate as it successfully allows the animation of liquid as a living thing, a malleable one at that too. Understandably, much of Vessel relies on its advanced liquid physics, of which the developer has released a video showcasing some of the basic tools given to the player to use liquid to solve the game’s many puzzles.

Three hours according to Steam, though you can pre-purchase but that was probably available earlier, Steam key could be registered but the download is still locked.

Played it for a while, crashed while I was toying with that particle fluid for one of the early puzzles but it was pretty unique, simple but very fun and it'll probably get more challenging shortly, interesting 2D art style also but with many 3D elements and of course that fluid effect used for all sorts of things, will be continuing with the game some other day. what's the price like on this one by the way?
and are the upgrades linear "here you go kid" or "which do you prefer" type?

You collect Protoplasm aka pink gel and use it in a big machinery in your workshop. Upgrades can be selected via a separate control and cost different amount of Protoplasm canisters.

15 $ \ USD albeit there's a small 10% off during this first week or how it was, still the game isn't that expensive but it's not the more common 9.99$ either so some will likely see it as a bit more expensive for a indie title.
(There isn't really a fixed price of course though some games that get popular sometimes raise the price and as seen here having a small reduction in the base price for new releases is also often used, Desura took that a bit further with their alpha-drive, might work.)

(And of course kickstart projects and bundles happen frequently too, indie scene is growing quite nicely it appears and the games also get more complex as technology improves and new software arrives, though retro style isn't bad either and some of the more complex titles do appear quite simple at first glance.)

EDIT: Was answered while I babbled on. Laughing

FWIW - not very much since vessel should prolly be bought if a humper likes it sufficiently to continue playin it, the skidrow release doesn't save. I seem to remember this occurs from time to time with their steam 'cracks'. Incompetent thieves blah blah.

Correction The theta version is the same & I guess the legit version too which I will discover if the kid likes it sufficiently that we buy it. The game only saves if started in admin mode

well i'm definitely glad i pirated this first, wonderful little game, the physics though are really the weak point, solving some of the puzzles comes down to pure luck and to add insult to injury the extra protoplasm stuff dissolves into fat air if you take too long to figure out the puzzles which are very much experiment, observe result, repeat, they're not the sort that lend themselves to being solved quickly so it's a fairly annoying and stupid thing to do.

the health or... lack thereof system also annoys the living crap out of me too, it's 2 hits and you're dead no matter how long you were touched or by how much, at least you can regain it if you sit there and waste time a few moments though but when health is actually a concern you'll die anyway if you try to stall to regain it for the most part.

if the physics weren't so derpy and random - especially for the extra puzzles for protoplasm - i probably would play this a second time, maybe after a few patches it'll be as enjoyable as it has potential to be and not so frustrating and for reasons largely beyond your control.

@ Ure, skidrow release saves perfectly fine, as stated above.

I am in the garden now, at the factory unlocked all the doors and managed to find 8 / 10 protoplasm vortexes and they never dissolved.

i watched one in the factory dissolve right in front of my eyes, then died and kept an eye on it just be positive since well.... it was taunting me and all.

i could grab a video, but i'm far too lazy to bother.

it's near the beginning of the factory there's a huge spinning thing dead center, lava pouring from the left, water from the right, steam in the middle, the protoplasm or whatever just past the lava, nearly got to it once or twice only to realize it wasn't even half the size as when i first noticed it.

 Spoiler:

there's the screens, i admit that took at least 5-10 minutes for it to shrivel up and wither to next to nothing, but i'm a stubborn motherfucker, give me a brick wall and a goal behind it and i'll keep at it till one of the two goes down just getting more determined and pissed off everytime i fail.

and if anyone can tell me how to reach that, please do, i won't continue this game until i've gotten it, this is why i'm always skeptical about puzzle games, i just can't stop trying to go after a goal i can see but not figure out.
