Very well made technically-wise, but honestly I expected a more interesting story with less clichès. Still definitely entertaining (and the good acting does help a lot -especially Nick Nolte-), it's basically like a mix between The Fighter and Rocky.

Thought it was pretty weak, however I'm not into MMA so I guess that if it's your thing then you'd rate it like you just did.

I've watched some matches in the past but I'm not a fan of MMA, though I have to admit that the movie was a nice entertainment product overall. Still very predictable and not exactly original (especially the last 20 minutes), that's why I rated it "only" 7,5.
The Artist (2011) - loved it. Every second of it. Simplistic, but yet captivating story nicely propped up by the well-known old visual cinema style. Can't also pass by the astonishing performance laid out by both the main male and female protagonists. 8.5/10
I am as huge a Fincher fan as you'll find, I think he's extremely talented. Furthermore, I think the actors did a great job, cinematography was great as per usual - but this came nowhere even close, to what I would expect from Fincher.
I blame the script. I found many mistakes with the movie, but I've gone through them with my friends and don't right now feel like going in another multi-page/many hour discussion about it.
Maybe you should have watched the orig. movie instead of the americanised junk that always seems to pop up after a good european or japanese release. just sayin
If you haven't seen this version then by all means, go fuck yourself
Anonymous (2011) - a quite distinct Emmerich's movie than the rest of his other works. One of the best, I'd say - if not the best. It was good. And I wish he made more suchlike movies - not ones that are overladen with explosions and stupid effects. 8/10

Did i call you names ?
I was just saying that i don't like remakes in general, i watched the originals, so why would i watch the remake made for the american market (and i suspect the main reason this movie was made was because of domestic market for it, and people who can't be bothered to read subtitles) . I've seen this over and over again, can't hollywood come up with a half decent script themselves ?
It's like you have a great piece of music and then comes a record company and rips the composition off to make a top 40 song out of it, you may like it i don't.
@freiwald
What was so cheap about "der Untergang" ? i thought it was s great movie.
Maybe what you're looking for is attention span.
And you last remark just cracks me up, why would a european movie (in this case swedish) be more foreign to me since i'm from holland. I like original ideas not remakes or movies with 2, 3, 4, 5, the beginning etc... in the title. And no i don't hate hollywood (i like thrillers and cheap horrors as much as the next guy), i only want them to do better.
the "original" movie was based on a book, so finchers version, made for HIS audience, is no different from the previous movie, made for that directors audience, which was also based on the book...
you can argue all you want about which film you liked better, but any issue you take with originality in finchers version, surely must be levelled at the other version too, given that wasnt "original" either....
