1. You can vote for one game.
2. The order of the games in this poll was determined by the amount of votes during nominations.
3. The final 1 game will be put in a final vote for overall GOTY.
4. The voting will be held until January 5th, 2011.

Still a better game than TDU2 or Dirt 3 though. Driver: SF I can see why people like it, but not with the other two, where you're bolted to the road in one and the other either has you bolted or on ice (but nothing in between).

they did the customization extremely well for shift 2, better than underground 2 imo, less worthless customization for looks only and what was there was more realistic, but yeah, if it was another MW instead of a less half assed pro street i'd have actually bought shift 2.
i totally agree on dirt 3, to some extent TDU2 as well - especially the license tests - but the 3D vision support was phenomenal, that's what kept me interested as long as i was, depth perception in that game helps a lot and was done extremely well.
Driver SF, didn't like it honestly, was a bit short and gimmicky, all the cars drove about the same to some extent and the plot was a bit derpy but not painfully so, it felt like a "b" game is all i guess.
if they'd ever finish trackmania 2, or at least put the god damn stadium environment in would possibly get my vote, but the removal of air brakes pretty well ruined it too, no air brakes = less track design philosophies that are workable.

why not enuf luv for driver??! i loved that game, the driving mechanics were great, the atmosphere was brilliantly light-hearted and fun, and the game world was fun to drive around. also the missions were enjoyable (whether is passanger dialog, setpieces, or some of the 'nightmare' levels) and the overall concept was pretty creative and worked really well.
i was surprised how much i utterly loved the game, especially given how everyone was making it out to be so terrible, and i wasnt expecting much....
it was great.

same here, when i first saw that were making another Driver game, i ignored it, after the gigantic piece of shit that is Driv3r, i thought it was only a gimmick and it was going to be a mess, or mediocre like Driver 4, but it turned out great, alot better than i expected.

well at least now we can close the polls early since you invalidated the reason to vote at all, check all the other poll threads if you want to see why i say that, everyone who voted to nominate is gonna vote to win too from what it looks like.
so much for the suspense.

You can't compare Shift 1 or 2 to earlier NFS games, they target a different audience. The entire driving mechanics are far more realistic than any other NFS (or racing game in general for that matter). It's not quite a sim just yet, but gets very close without actually losing the parts that keep it exciting

Air brakes aren't completely gone, just different. You can still slow down mid-air, the part they removed is the leveling-brake
In fact, there's a few tracks that require you to brake mid air to avoid hitting a canyon wall
@ chiv: for me the whole concept was silly.
Too lazy to do it properly like GTA or in fact some of the older driver games. Driving mechanics weren't bad, but every car handled mostly the same and every car handled like an American muscle car. You do not make a MiTo handle like that. Just leave the fucking car out of the game then lol

on the comparison thing, that's exactly my point, NFS fans have been protesting until they're blue in the face to stop targeting MW fans with derpy car physics and non-existant customization and return to the tried and true formula of cops + free roam + good handling cars + nice customization options, but EA doesn't want to sell anyone a game that they can't limit the amount of enjoyment you're able to get out of so we can't ever have that perfect mix back.
re: trackmania airbrakes, good that's fine enough being able to level out with them felt overpowered in the other games honestly, maybe it's just how the canyon environment cars handle then that makes it feel like you can't be precise with it.
either way, we need more than one environment and the rest of the pieces that are missing for the one environment we do have, the pre-made loop the loops need to come back, full stop.
one of my best tracks in TM was an outside loop of the stadium build limits lined with turbo panels, then multiplier turbos right before a quintuple loop the loop, we played that one track at least 4+ hours in hotseat mode and loved it.

Too late for that. Gotta pick only of the ones listed in the poll.

exactly what i just said, whatever game was most nominated is going to be the winner since there's no change in voters, do you always have this much trouble comprehending what you read?

Shift 2 with mods is one of the best racing games that I've played in a while. The other ones were either plain bad or too arcade for my tastes :/
The panorama of driving games on PC isn't that good these days tho, hopefully rFactor 2 (and GTR 3 if it isn't delayed again) should improve the situation next year.

Not really, since there still are some minor differences in the voting, see the TPP GOTY for instance, so far Saints Row The Third received more votes than Dead Space 2, even though DS2 received more votes in the nominations.
Same case with RPG GOTY.

That's an excellent list , I'm using exactly the same mods plus one for the cameras (don't remember the name) and it's just great
@DR: yeah that's the one

I only use the first two from that list. I wasn't aware of the third one and now I'm scared to install it because I'll probably fuck up the game again... and I don't want that since for once it's running perfectly fine modded. I also use this (and ixigia too I think):

Speed DOF - Seat Fore OFF + Seat Back ON + Visor OFF - this version I think.
