"instanced" is 1) relative and 2) not important. Its done in an useful way.

Instances in swtor, so far, are done useful. I like having my own class story instances, not shared with 50 clones ^^

i like group instances (mini dungeons ?) not being shared with 100 people (making the group part obselete)

etc etc.

Instancing isnt a bad thing. Dont know when it became synomym for something "bad" lol.

General consensus :

- As a SP game - awesome, great, long, diverse etc.
- As an MMO - shit, doesn't feel like one, instanced crap everywhere, game has no chance to survive

Too bad, i was hoping i would have an enjoyable MMO on my hands. O well got my 60E worth from the campaign + free month i still have.

Like 90-95% of the game isn't instanced? Game will survive fine. They need a lot of polish in the UI department, and to release API's for mods. However I find the combat to be incredibly enjoyable, and the fact all 8 classes have their own storyline is pretty awesome.

The whole world is instanced. Sorry to break it to ya.

Good. Better then the old school MMO's where 50 people were waiting to do 1 quest objective.

in regards of my post above you, this is sadly still the case. "Open" world objectives are on really stupid timers sometimes. It will eventually weed out, sure, but for the moment, you hardly ever alone doing missions in an area and have to wait for objectives to respawn. Worse tho, some people simply refuse to team up in order to get the objectives together ... yeah i know

but usually people team up (mission items drop for everyone and usable items count for anyone ...)

i guess its fine lol, ASLONG as you group up hehe Smile

I remember trooper/smuggler starting area tho lol, first and second mission are clicking some objectives in a 4 hut village ... with 100 troopers doing them ^^.

Talk about attack of the clones ^^

Depends what you like i guess. It's better since you don't fight for mobs or there's very little chance you get killed in a pvp area, but the world feels empty and dead.

I rather have a vibrant world and have to wait for quests, just like many others.

As it stands now, like i previously mentioned, it feels like a SP game not an MMO.

while i absolutely agree with you on the SP part, you also have to agree , that its SP part is worth playing it hehe.

If you take WoW (get over it, it IS the rule to be measured against) you can also level 1-85 without ever having grouped etc (essentialy playing it solo player), but it isnt as near as satisfying ^^.

Yeah i did mention that. Exactly why it was worth 60E's. Too bad i won't be subbing which means if i'd feel like playing it later on to level another char i probably won't due to having to resub.

O well.

ah sorry ^^. But yeah, like i said earlier, so far i am enjoying the singleplayer aspect of the game very much, but right now, im not sure i'll extend over my initial 30 days (unless endgame REALLY convinces me otherways ^^)

Btw, is there more pvp/bgs later on ? 3 bg's is kinda sad (and only 2 i ever get to play, weirdly).

wish there was some Alterac valley-ish bg (as in, 2 sides colliding, massive PVE troops involved etc, old school AV hehe). Would be nice i guess Smile

Found out through some googling that the guy who gives it is Lord Serjay Thul, who resides in a side room of the Thul Palace on the actual planet Laughing So very easy to miss. Have no idea why all sources say imperial fleet

So this is actually playable for people that aren't interested in PvP? Ie. the single player is well designed and fleshed out to make it a good SP game as well?

Instancing in open zones is bad because it negates world pvp by splitting people up in different instances. Getting killed by a Jedi? Change instance. I'd rather wait for an objective rather than trading away portions of the world pvp.

You can only change to a populated instance though, so you can't really "escape" the other faction that way.

I would definitely say yes. The SP experience is miles above any other MMO

open world pvp is shit because the zones are to small and there no such thing as open world.
one high level char could shut down an entire low level map in an instance by just camping near a junction.
well, is not shit if you like griefing people.

Ye Frant, i play MMORPG games pure for PvE content, so far the leveling on PvE was great, no interruption or anything. Really enjoyed it (even didn't do a single instance and i was still ahead of the main questline level)

Also, you can watch TotalBiscuit interview with Stephen Reid:

Alright guys, give it to me straight;

Should an ex-wow player who hates the combat in mmos but loved mass effect 1/2 and is a star wars fan give it a shot, or wait it out for a while?

Just watched a few, I think you're right. Gonna wait it out, maybe play it at a friends and see if I think it's decent or not.

Until I get combat that has oomph in an mmo (think arkham asylum, haven't played city yet) I've basically given up on them... it's so... out of sync, but the worst part is just how SLOW it is. The only MMO that I actually enjoyed the combat in was probably Lineage 2... and that had damn near lock-on fighting, but it felt great.

Yep, but I was a big BG2 fan so I liked the whole AD&D based thing anyway.
