Mining got on my nerves after about 3 runs. So I used a ressource hack and never looked back.
The monotone driving in the Mako was only marginally better, because let's face it, all those planets differed only in colour, other than that they all were completely empty and devoid of anything even remotely interesting.
I honestly can't understand grown people crying over that kind of monotony.

I also liked how they did away with all that RPG clutter in the inventory in ME2.
In ME1, I spent 75% of my time in the inventory screen, brooding over assault rifle stats and which of the 666 rifles I should equip now... I really hate this kind of artificial game stretching and inventory juggling.

Long story short, I spent more time with ME2 without artificial inventory juggling than with ME1.
They also offered more than just 2 types of cave in ME2, for which I am grateful.

In fact. I will go ahead and buy both those games on steam today.
5€ a piece is a well-deserved steal.

Don't worry, Mass Effect 3 will be even more streamlined! Soon you won't have to worry about that pesky aiming or anything, the game will do it for you! God mode too, so no more cluttered screen with aiming reticules or health gauges ... you can spend all your time just hitting the left trigger and winning!

Awesome!

He's right to some degree though, the inventory in ME1 was utter shit and the items were extremely generic. Good thing they fixed that with an improved inventory and better/unique items in ME2....oh wait Sad

Well, go for Fallout 3 and Skyrim, where you can pick up a world of useless garbage, I mean items, and juggle them around in your inventory.

I'm simply not interested in repeating the same actions over and over and over again.

Oh! This really challenges my tiny intellect!
I really wouldn't mind repeating a set of simple actions even an idiot could master for the next 200 hours and call it 'challenging gameplay'
For this will surely show everyone on the internetz my exceptionally 'high' standards regarding RPGs (meaning: RealProGrinding).

If that is your idea of a good RPG, join the broken hearts record club and repeat yourself.
To me, you appear to be nothing but Pavlovian dogs.

ME2 also had upgrades scattered around the levels. Unlike 99% of all crap you can find in Fallout 3, those things actually mattered and were a reward for exploring everything. The levels were also much more beautiful and unique by the way. No planet resembled another.

In ME1 you got douched with items you would never even use ONCE...
Instead of wading through that ME1 assault rifle list, you could just as well do some extra office work with Excel spreadsheets - there is no difference. Nor is there any fun in wading through boring lists of TEXT in a video game.

But maybe you are "Teh" hardcore oldschool text adventure guy.
To that I say: What are you doing here, complaining about ME?
And why do you go to such great lengths investing heaps of time and energy to pirate and play games you _don't like_ in the first place?

Wouldn't this behaviour be considered 'fucking stupid'?
I rest my case.

Haters gonna/have to hate.

I didn't come across useless garbage in Skyrim, I don't remember seeing much in Fallout either. ME1, even with its shitty cluttered inventory, was better than ME2's system since ME1 atleast had an inventory.

Oh, that's clever.
We just say that any game with an inventory is better than one without.
Then, according to the rule we just finished making up, ME2 is worse than ME1 because it lacks an inventory.

I guess you are also missing an inventory in Pac-Man...

The question still stands:
Why do you go to such great lengths investing lots of time and energy to pirate, install, crack and play games you _don't even like_ in the first place?

@garus:
To be more precise, it went something like this:

You download ME1, install, crack, run network patch, play
download DLC#1, get updated network patch, play
download DLC#2, get updated network patch, play

Then you go online and whine how much you hated it and how much you suffered while playing it, as if you had been kidnapped, beaten, raped and repeatedly FORCED TO PLAY.

Of course, bad-mouthing ME like a true hypocrity doesn't stop one to come back as soon as "Mass Derp" 2 was released - showing that one is obviously one of those "Derps" who comes back to enjoy another round of derping...

So you download ME2, install, crack, run network patch and play all the way through multiple times
download DLC#1, get updated network patch, play
download DLC#2, get updated network patch, play
download DLC#3...
etc.

After all that time if you REALLY hated "Mass Derp", as you call it, you would have stopped right after playing the first part for, lets say 1-2 hours. You would have realized: "Oh, this is crap, I don't like it, I'm gonna do something different instead"

This pretty much leaves us with one conclusion: You L-O-V-E Mass Effect, just like me Smile Especially the 2nd part, but also the 1st and you will love the final as well.
I don't judge you as you show good taste, although your messy love/hate-relationship surfacing here might require a really talented shrink.
Apropos shrink, I hear Norwegians are really catching up in the American national sport of school shootings. Just like Poland you also have a fair share of Black Metal retards who meet in the woods to evaluate who's the biggest panda of 'em all by bashing their heads in with medieval weapons...

Sorry, I digress. Guess what will happen 2012?
You will download ME3, install, crack, run network patch and play all the way through

etc.
etc.
etc.

What did we learn?
Liking stuff is sooo 2010 - true hypocrites spend over 120 hours on "Mass Derp" and then start complaining how much they hated it... Very Happy
That's like watching someone hammer nails through his hand, one box at a time, only to go online afterwards to whine about all the excessive pain he's enduring. That's so moronic, I don't know whether to laugh or feel pity for you morons!
Oh, Lord! Please make it rain brains, so even zombie pirates from HYPOCRETE island may have one!*

Since when does playing a game mean L-O-V-I-N-G it? ME2 improved the action elements fully, but the RPG aspect of it was lost by a good margin. When you have a decent basis which is flawed, you don't simply say fuck it and remove it, you improve it. People here are pissed because as with DA2, the RPG elements were simply removed to make the game more shooter like.

i think you should try lair of the shadow broker garus , the dlc is pretty cool actually with boss fights that aren't absolutely generic for ex

and if you care about the story or characters you diffidently should play it for some Liara goodness

if bioware didn't go all amnesia on us , this DLC should have a big impact in ME3 too if you're gonna bother at least trying it

personally i install ALL dlc Very Happy

especially the alternate appearances one. garus has all blue glowy lights now, and as we all know, that makes games better. BETTER.

but as far as dlc goes, all of it pretty much sucks apart from kasumi and shadow broker. those 2 were quite exceptional as far as dlc goes, i especially like the change of gameplay style that kasumi brought, with the party mingling shit at the start. was a nice bit of rare creativity from bioware instead of just 'here base, kill dem baddies - go go go!!'

plus the ending boss made for a nice showpiece.

and then lightning struck twice with the even better (and quite epic) shadow broker. nice boss, great setpieces, great locations, fun battles, and actually (shockingly) was a dlc that added something to the overall story.

arrival was pretty blah though. im actually having trouble remembering most of it. only thing i remember were the tiresome "hold out against the attacking waves" bullshit

ps. I don't mind you loving the games, but when you're trying to tell other people how they felt about the game, then it just becomes ludicrous.

Never downloaded a single DLC. For any of the ME games.

I liked ME1, though. ME2 not really, I played it just to see how the story goes.

Of course pewpewpewp was enjoyable but that's not what I expected.

And saying I love it? Nope, never gonna bother with ME3.

Some months ago I made myself the promise to finish ME2 before the end of 2011, but I failed miserably.

It would be all much more interesting if there wasn't actually any gameplay in this game Laughing

That's the problem, too much boring shoot&cover gameplay Razz

I can even pass on the fact that the game doesn't have rpg elements anymore, but damn, it's so repetitive (and easy) Crying or Very sad

Yep, I remember when we talked about it Smile. The problem is that I'd need to restart the game and replay the first 10-15 hours which is honestly quite annoying :/
