Heroes of might and magic and civilization are the only ones released recently worth playing imho.
Latest Civilization games don't have hot seat, but me and a friend play with the same civilization, and split the cities among ourselves. Improvised coop hotseat if you will.

just a note Civ 5 have hotseat since patch in May

And Civ 4 has it as well. It's a better game than CiV, too.

HoMM 3 is considered the best in the series. 4 is considered the worst. 5 and 6 are both decent. I had hotseat fun with all of them though. So I'd say just got with #6 since it's the latest, it will be easiest to get into for you.

i guess i'll try Civ. What about Heroes of Might and Magic 6? Is it worth playing or better stick with older parts of series?
