Hi all.
My keyboard on it's way (again)
Over the last two years i think I've gone through at least 6 keyboard and a few mouses.
So now I'm after a decent durable keyboard and a good mouse?
Any recommendations please?

i've got a R.A.T. 7 mouse, epic, no excuses not to own one, extremely comfortable also.
also a sidewinder x4 keyboard, no complaints there either except i don't really use the macro keys much, picked this one up for less than my old x6 keyboard even though it had more features but no anti ghosting.
it does have a built in wrist pad which some people might not like though.
one thing i'll say on durability, stay away from logitech input devices, i've had mice stop scrolling correctly within months and the key caps on the G15 don't come off for cleaning either from what i can tell and i also had a problem with the enter key breaking in half eventually, they make input devices with nice features but that crap out in the first few months.

Can't comment on a G15, but my Illuminated is fine 18 months after purchasing it. Can't even remember how old my G500 is (older than the keyboard at least) and that's still fine; even the scroll toggle which I use constantly is showing not a single sign of wearing. What the fuck do you do with your devices to kill them that quick?

not sure actually, i've honestly wondered that myself before i switched to microsoft keyboards too, with the mice i know precisely what the problem was - i jumped into the revolution MX series of mice before i thought and wound up giving up on the hope that the scroll wheel wouldn't gum up with dirt after the third free replacement they sent out - with the keyboards, logitech's average about 6 months realistic lifespan with me.
i have no job or school, your taxes pay my income, gaming is probably 10+ hours or more a day at least, i wonder if i just use input devices far more than they're designed for on a daily basis.
but i guess also, it is anecdotal experiences of mine, your mileage may vary and all that.

well maybe im oldschool.
i don't know what is going on right now on the hardware sector.
but logitech was always a good choice for me.
if i had money, g9x + a standard logitech keyboard would be my thang.
right now i got a g5 (which is still pretty decent) + a crappy logitech cordless desktop keyboard from beyond 2000

I've got a G5 (Blue with 2 thumb buttons) and i had no let down,even if corded...thou i wish there was a mouse like that,Wireless,and RECHARGABLE...there's Performance MX,but i dunno..
Keyboard..get the G15 (with just one line of G keys,6 in total) or something similar to it...the keyboard layout or key design..
Both are from Logitech
There's the "Razer Mamba" wich looks to be the dominant one in shape comfort and wireless....but holy shit,130$!!!!!!!!!!!!...the question is...can you recharge the mouse via the USB Cord...or you have to put the mouse on the rechargable base by the nuts? (that applies to the Performance MX too...)

I am using Logitech Wave keyboard at home and Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000 at work. Obviously the latter wouldn't be very good for gaming. I'm with the Wave more than two years now, and works great.
As for mouse, I'd recommend Logitech G9x if you need a gaming mouse, or Logitech Performance MX if you need all-around good mouse. Free-scroll is fantastic on these.

the prob of the scroll is the button funciton itself...people says that no matter how you press it might take more times to make it to work..or something..sure,it's softer and free-scroll tihng,but...
Also, the thumb buttons are HIGHER than the G5,making it a bit unconmfortable if you programmed something there
G9x feels small in my hand...

If it is in your budget, the Razer Mamba (the newest version) is a pretty damn good mouse. And you can recharge/use it with either the usb cord (which is pretty limber, BTW) or use the included stand to charge.
I also highly recommend getting anything with mechanical keys. I know that those keyboards are usually a bit on the high side, price wise, but they are absolutely worth it, and almost bullet proof. I've got a Razer BlackWidow Ultimate and really like it. The only reason that I bought it instead of a SteelSeries is because of availability. I use my home computer for work more than play and my old board died so I needed a replacement immediately and this was the only thing available quickly enough that also had mechanical keys. Hope this helps!

I never understand all the bullshit about keyboard... its either flat or big keys and if its lighten up.
I do pay attention to mouse choice though.

No problem with scroll button clicking. I use it religiously to control my browser and development IDEs, so I wouldn't be using these mice if I couldn't middle click.

Really? Hmmm...I must research, although I have noticed nothing out of the ordinary with mine. My old Mamba's scroll wheel decided to get the squeaky-squeaky, and nothing I could do would sate it's need for lubrication. So I warrantied it for a new one and have had zero issues thus far.

Hopefully Logitech does something like this for their next mice:
G5 Blue (2 thumb buttons,DPI Change under the wheel,Black scroll wheel (NOT the spinny one)) + Same design or better + Wireless + Ion Lithium Battery Rechargable (Via USB Cable or Stand, but NOT the AA Batteries that asks for the latest mouses..)
I would buy it then...one close to it is Performance MX but NOPE...
But i wouldnt pay that much for the Mamba 2012...sure looks great but dammit..

get a R.A.T., personally i'd say go for the 7 unless you really like that transformers paintjob they did on the MMO version of it.
only thing i could ever possibly think of to nitpick and this is reaching quite a bit as well, is that even after i adjusted it a bit i still can't get the left thing that sticks out to be close enough to use the fine aim button comfortably.

You get what you pay for.
I'd get a Sidewinder X4 and a Razer Mamba or a Nova slider x600 OR a logitech G500 if you want to stretch out your budget a bit.

How about the G700 from Logitech?..it's a gaming mouse and fits my hand very good (i dont have it,but touched it..) and Wireless!
Thou i have some questions:
1.Without the drivers, all G keys would be disabled,TRUE...but does the mouse has 2 of the 4 thumb buttons it's typical "Back/Forward" functions without the software (just like G5) ?
2.People are complaining about the battery..It's good to know you can recharge it via the cable it comes with..what's wrong with the mouse then?...thou i heard rumors it has an "AA Battery" in it..if that's so,then DAMMIT,i tought it would be Ion Lithium or something!
3.Does it have an adapter or something so you can plugin the USB Receptor and at the same time the recharge cable..in just 1 USB port? (like a special adapter to plugin both cables or something..)
4.How do you change DPI in the air? (in the G there's the + and - buttons..i think the middle DPI light,my actual one,is set at 800...what about G700's default?..Cant you just install the setpoint software and save the configuration into the mouse, then uninstall the program?
Jesus,Logitech might be amazing, but sometimes confuses like shit!

I've been using a microsoft 4000 ergonomic keyboard for many years (had another ms one before that, changed only 'cause this one is ergonomic, which I love) and a logitech MX518 for even longer (I think it's 5 or 6 years old). The first optical mouse I ever bought is a microsoft and it still works at my old pc, I think it's 10 years old.
