I was actually wondering what triggers a nameless dragon attack. I for one couldn't discern any pattern. Since some people complain about an excess of dragons, which I can understand, I find it strange they're relatively rare in my game. I've seen nine, two flew away, six died and one was a named dragon.

You mean that they first spawn? (It's in the dragon article above, above quest linked to is when they start appearing more randomly.) or how they spawn and attack when already present due to meeting those requirements?

I think there's some global timer or percentage count that defines that, also increases as you progress the main quests (And level up.) but recedes a bit afterwards though compared to the gates (EDIT: TES4) they won't fully disappear either.
(I do know they nearly always spawn and replace mobs near those word wall / burial mound locations but that's nothing new.)

(Would assume settlements and villages are set at a lower chance also, especially inside towns as to avoid messing with the player too much.)

I guess if the player fast travels a lot (like I do) then game days pass more quickly and you are more likely to stumble upon dragons. Hey, at least I've stocked up on scales and bones (how many do I need for a full dragon set ? I'm getting close to 100 smithing)

I think I should get the main quest line finished quickly to get things in order.

Yep, definitively is. The other ones have a lot of clipping issues, something i haven't seen in your work yet. Great job man.

I've killed 44 dragons and I'm only 120hrs into the game.

44...44.

Fast travel? Nope. Dragon attack.
Civil War Quests? Nope. Double Dragon attack right outside of camp.
Thieves' Guild Quests? Nope. Dragon attacks as soon as I reach objective.

These things are more annoying than those damn Oblivion gates.

No clue what triggers an attack but I'm level 44 (with some cheap levelling here and there) and have collected 30 Dragon Souls, only 2 of them from the main quest

I fast travel a lot and that has got me maybe 10 dragon attacks in 139 ingame days, they do like to appear when I'm running up mountains as well, you can tell by the music if there's a dragon about
I've also had a number of dragon bounties and there's the word of power shrines, there's always a dragon with them

Maybe it's just random for players, for a while there I was getting really sick of dragon attacks, I could hardly move without one of the damn things appearing but when you haven't had any in a while you miss them Sad
I do like seeing them crash land

I fast travel quite a lot too, it doesn't seem to raise the chance of a dragon attack for me. A dragon does not always lock on btw, you can just run away or go about your business if you don't want to fight. That's how it works here atleast.

Welp, I'm upto Level 61 and still going strong. Justg started the Dark Brotherhood quests. That's about the only major faction I haven't done. I still have to level most of the schools of magic, so I can probably squeeze a few more levels out of this character.

I got plenty of misc quests but no sidequests or faction quests left sadly. Sad

ok this one goes out to the experts! does it make sense to update from 1.1 to 1.3??

I heard that 1.2 only meant trouble and to be quite honest, 1.1 works quite well for me..

So is 1.3 alright or does it also contain bugs or are there still bugs from 1.2 it has

thats exactly the thing, i dont care about any fancy script plugin or so

only gameplay or engine related fixes are of my concern.. i havent encountered any major ones so far.. only one i have is the flickering shadows, anyone knows how to fix them or does 1.3 fix them?

so is there any reason to update to 1.3?

lol 1.1 is the same as the unpatched version

Read the changelog people, and decide for yourselves. At least 1.3 isn't broken like 1.2 was. And yes, you can use the RLD update 3 directly on any version.

Changelog for 1.3 also contains these 2 points (among others)

But why should I? Game works flawlessly (performance and stability wise) and they didn't fix a single quest bug yet. I really don't see the point to update yet in my case. I wouldn't gain anything.

Played 1.3 patched version for ~2 hours, everything is working fine it seems (including absorbing dragon souls). Everything Went Better Than Expected

But stoopid stem doesn't account the ~10 hours that I've spent offline with the game. Y U No????

With search broken, a redundant question likely: Played couple of hours with latest patch (yes I installed steam sigh), then the store function in a chest (R key) bailed out on me. Is there a fix, or do I need to reinstall game?

You mean the key doesn't work ? You can try deleting the game ini files, so they are recreated with the default options.

My Documents\My Games\Skyrim

Or try to rebind it in the controls.

did you change the keys at all? when i started playing with mouse/kb i remapped the use key to middle mouse and it fucked everything up (there was no way to take a book, only read them and tab out, dropping things was messed up etc etc). i think someone posted a mod that fixed the menus for mouse/kb controls but i never got around to trying it out (i 'fixed' it by using my xbox controller Crying or Very sad and cba to spend my limited game time messing with remapping/mods/testing)
