The Wii-U plays Wii titles, so developers won't be dropping the Wii any time soon.
Yes true, but still I think the Wii would had developed a lot different if we got a Zelda game like Skyward sword and a RPG like Xenoblade in the dawning of its era. The developers haven't been confident with the Wii to make other games then causual ones for families. I think they would had if we got games of this quality in the begining.
I've already got a Wii, but I prefer playing at my desk and with much improved visuals In the meantime, I've dropped back from 3.0-204 to 3.0-96filthy as that has the Xenoblade 3.1 HLE patch applied.
I already have that one and 3.0-96. I don't think Filthy has compiled any of his optimised builds using the latest SVNs, the last one being 96. Ah well. Thanks though =)

Not sure if this will help you Sabin, but as I posted a few pages back, I'm using Lectrocode's build Dolphin-3.0-[r7617]_x86_ICC_L102. It takes roughly 5 to 6 hours of continuous play, for me at least, before the sound starts to go mental.
And no, there is absolutely no need to grind for the main quest at all. In fact the gameplay is a lot more challenging without grinding. Just keep in mind that tension, agility, and night vision are all important, which you should pick up materials for(assuming you don't run away from every encounter) while traversing the vast landscape for the main quest, and doing minimal side quest.
I've only ever really liked 5 or so JRPGs before 2011(I'm in my mid 40's and pretty much exclusively play RPGs) and in 2011 I get to 2 outstanding JRPG's(Xenoblade + Radiant Historia) within 6 months on each other.
Excellent stuff, thanks grouch but it's ok - I'm on 96filthy right now and it has been good as gold in HLE mode. The only fights I ignore are the ones where enemies are more than 5 levels under me, as the gain simply isn't worth the time - unless I'm hunting for items/armour
This game is really one of the best JRPGs ever created. After about 50 hours im in Mechonis inside i think. Where all those switches for the elevators are. I don't like the music in this area, feels a bit too retro
And what party members are you using?
Shulk, Melia and Dunban is a great team. But for bosses i take Sharla instead of Melia for the heals!
Enthoo Evolv ATX TG // Asus Prime x370 // Ryzen 1700 // Gainward GTX 1080 // 16GB DDR4-3200
I'm actually just about to head over to Mechonis, I'm currently 49hrs in, lv48, and exploring the ice fields on Bionis Arm/Elbow. Man, this game is fucking ACE. It's beyond epic Right now I'm using Shulk, Melia and Dunban -- and, like you, I swap Sharla in for bosses due to her excellent healing abilities. That's one of my pet peeves about Melia; she's a fucking MAGIC USER.. and the only heal spell she has is one that sacrifices 20% of her own HP to heal others. Sharla is an attack dog, yet she has fantastic healing and buffing talents.
I don't, mate. For me it was the opposite; I took a break from Skyrim (88hrs++ and still only explored three main towns) before I ended up burning out and resenting the game ... only to jump head first into another bloody epic in Xenoblade Once I've finished Xeno, I'll go back to Skyrim

Thanks for this Sabin. I just installed this on my niece's computer(I donated my old comp, Q9550 + ATI 4870) and this is a really solid build.
Thank "filthy" on the Dolphin forums, he's the guy behind the excellent compile - also thank Mylek for the excellent HLE audio hack. Seriously improved performance from using HLE instead of LLE (though I'm still smarting about that, my rig shouldn't need extra tweaks) and no more horrid audio distortion from using HLE either.
Lv58, 62hrs in, game just gets better and better! Hello 7th <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 My party choice has changed radically now... Now it's Shulk/Dunban/7th because for damage output? This is just godly. Even the story is getting better now that it's starting to fall into place, though the emo factor went up quite a lot, I'm finally starting to get a handle on exactly what's going on
I can NEVER get enough of hearing that track. One of my favourites in an already-magnificent OST.
Yea the game music for the most time is really great.
I also tried Shulk/Dunban/7th as soon as i got it. Damage was good, but i couldn't really get that group to do well against some enemies. Mainly because of pretty much no heal/decurse etc.
Also some hours from now on, you will find out a twist in story regarding both titans
I also cheated a bit, for max friendship between the members and unlocked all skill trees
Too much grind it would be then. Played for about 58hours now and level 69 i think.
Shulk/Reyn/Sharla - best defense...you'll rarely, if ever, die. But even random encounters 'at level' will be slow.
Dunban(or7th)/5th/6th - best combination of physical and ether attacks, with decent healing.
5th/6th/7th - Best dps against elementals(or enemies with super high physical defense).
Shulk/Dunban/7th - Absolutely the best DPS team with or without abusing topple mechanic against anything but the elementals, which just happens to be 99% of the story bosses and optional bosses.
...and on and on.
Spot healing becomes unnecessary later on when you have skills that, for instance heals when you do a critical, or whole party heals after chain attack or during burst affinity, etc.
Quoting myself cause I'm too lazy to retype. When you've gemmed/specced for tension/agility high enough, chain topple becomes key when you're significantly lower level. Healing isn't really an issue anymore when a boss is barely upright during a fight.
And chain topple never really get old .
Hardest boss in the the entire game at 20+ levels lower. This without even using Daze, just break/topple.

Killed that dragon starting at Level 93 when I finally got all the gems/skills I wanted for the fight. I'm uploading a video I just recorded earlier before I completed the game with my party at 97. At this point, the fight is really trivial.
Warning!!!Video contains spoilers about 7th party member.
All three of my main party members have Initial Tension V - Dunban has VI - as well as being gemmed for 150+ Agility each - Dunban actually has 195 agility AND a skill link reducing his armour weigh by 5, which means he has 0 armour weight due to light armour equip. As far as I know, it's the weight that governs his abilities, so the 30% bonus to agility should still apply.
If not? No matter, he's still a monster anyhow
@Mister_s
Yeah, I'm still using 3.0-96-dirty. No sound problems here =)
Each unit of weight from armor reduces agility the corresponding amount. A character with heavy armor weighing 10 units would loose 10 agility, so weight reduction skill links are of benefit. In contrast lighter armor wearers with less than 5 units of weight would benefit more from the +5/+10 agility link.
FUN FACT The 7th party members Talent Art(big circle in the middle of talent bar) can be changed by changing drones(foot armor in equipment screen, but wing location in the character screen). Sword drones do multiple hit physical attacks, while cannon drones do a wave motion gun like ether attack; all the rest do somewhere in between.
Finally finished it at level 81 after around 70 hours i think.
What a really great game this is!
The last few hours were the best ones, with some cool twists!
Spoiler:
Also i had a feeling, the end would be more emotional with someone dying. Mainly i thought of Fiora dying, because earlier you get to know she won't have much time to live because of her Monado missing.

Great! I hope you remembered to
Spoiler:
equip the True Monado(Monado 3) for the final figtht; not that it was needed mind you, just for the hell of it: 999-999 damage, 75% crit
Those are awesome screenies; I can never get shots as well as those. I think Monolith deserves a lot of praise for getting such great looking graphics/art style in such huge zones on the Wii...ON THE WII!
I'm not a big JRPG fan, but Bethesda can take lessons from Monolith with regards to diversity in zones/enemies. It's also ironic, that Xenoblade(console exclusive) has better inventory management(left-to-right category list,, sortable within category, etc.) than Skyrim(PC) and The Witcher 2. I would love to have played this on PC with proper kb/mouse controls and hotkeys.
Here's to hoping Curt Shillings game is as good as this one. Gameplay looks very similar minus the party.
Eh? As good as this game is, there isn't that much diversity in enemies and zones. The diversity you speak of is just using the same assets, which are low in variety, in a different package now and then. Both aspects are also very low detailed. Comparing the Witcher 2 or Skyrim to this game on the technical aspect is extremely skewed.

Forgot that . But it was still very easy. Played as Melia, with Shulk and Dunban. Melia had a +100% lightning damage buff and about 70% more topple time gems.
