Well the service is still in development. I like the not dependent on current hardware stuff...tried it from my work computer (4 years old I believe) and I was extremely impressed but the interesting stuff would be to include some console exclusive stuff like God of War or Uncharted.
As it stands now, there are only PC games on the list and considering the lower quality (doesn't look extremely bad on this small monitor) it isn't worth investing money in it. Now if they made it a platform free gaming collection that would be tempting.
I've got the 'PlayPack Bundle' free for 3 months (It's usually £6.99 a month) as my folks have BT Broadband and there is an offer for their customers. I'm with Sky Broadband, but it doesn't check for a BT range of IP's
All I needed to do was put in the telephone number and postcode to get the free offer, not even the account name is required
I just tested Virtua Tennis 2009 and it's more responsive than I expected tbh.
I was at Eurogamer at Earls Court in London yesterday. They were giving away 3000 Onlive microconsoles and controllers for free, worth £69.99! I got one!
Also the first game is just £1 be it something like Space Marine (£34.99) or Deus Ex.
I have to say Im quite impressed.
Considering my piece of shit PC has onboard video this is the next best thing for me. No downloads and no lag! I also play on my 40" TV
why even post in this thread if you are (obviously) completely anti-onlive. Some people seem to think its ok, some think its good. Your opinion is all well and good, but other people are allowed to have opinions too

Nothing in his post implied other people weren't allowed to have opinions, your post doesn't even make sense since he only posted his own.
Do you have to be completely for onlive to be relevant in the thread?
It's that whole carebear/pony mentality that's been spreading around the internet the last little while. There is a certain segment of the population that believes discussion means dick sucking contest. You could only possibly want to discuss something if you're totally in love with it, and if you have even the slightest criticism of the subject in question "WTF are you doing here?"

Show me a mobile device that has a 720p screen, my mobile doesn't [on a normal TV a Xvid rip thats 512x342 looks crystal clear , normal SD TV can only do 720x512 so even on a 20'' or 40'' SDTV it will look crystal but on a LCTV it will look like shit , same was with Nintendo DS games on 3DS they look like shit and those movies are so pixzlated ] and that is the whole point ... but they execution became SHIT WHEN they became so full of them selfs [wanted to be the ultimate thing for gaming] joined with TV brands to advertise this as a the only console you will need to play all games from all NEXT-GEN HD systems ... just plug it on your LED 1080p TV and enjoy ... OH WAIT now from a mobile it became a system not for mobiles but for home systems

What??
I think you're thinking of Myspace..
facebook was originally created as a private social network for university students..

hmm, it looks like shit on my 20" monitor with video artifacting sometimes so couldnt imagine how rough it looks on your huge TV at that low res the compression produces, also I do get input lag with some games I tested on it.
I am able to run on my pc and netbook(which cant run anything by itself) all the games avaible there, Since most of games have 15-30minutes trial avaible, I could try out Arkham City and Saints Row3 for example, which runs just .. well. It is actually quite amazing to see (maxed?) Arkham City and other games on netbook or weak pc.
Offcourse this would be a perfect solution to gaming industry/consoles as a service etc... BUT, it requires very good latency on connection. Even Tho I have 30mbit, about 0,5seconds control lag is noticable. Especially with mouse. Analog controlls of gamepad make this easier but not perfect. Tho it might be caused becouse I am connected to web via wifi.
And 720p stream video isnt even quite as good looking as real 720 ... Not talking about higher resolutions.
I dont play on it and wouldnt recommend to use it to anyone who owns a console or gaming pc, becouse its useless then. I am just using it when bored to spectace other people and watch brag clips etc.
I think its a neat idea and possibly usefull for some people(somehow there is plenty of people playing ), but lets not cheat each other. It wont advance becouse of too high connection requiments and becouse of microsoft, steam and asicly developers who dont want their games, there.

I have what constitutes a 20/20 mbit connection - and it's way too laggy for me in Denmark. Also, the video compression is awful - so I'd never use OnLive in any primary capacity.
But the technology is nevertheless impressive, and it'd be a cute novelty to play high-end games on your smartphone.
I so much love the idea. Have the game on big tv at home, on pc, on tablet, smartphone... all You need is to carry a controller with You.
But we are still years fron so low latency internet
And it would be hardly crackable so its allright

Laggin controls in singleplayer game? End of my ass... Onlive is for console noobs. It will have no effect on PC. There is more business in HW selling than in this stuff...
There is no chance for these stupid lagging game-streaming systems until people willingly pay $150 for a high DPI laser mouse just for gaming.

You can't break the laws of physics which is what Online is based on, which is why it fails.
Even if you have the cleanest line possible it takes time for the signal to leave your mouse, to your machine, to your modem, down to your ISP, through X hops out their modem, into their server make the change and find its fucking way back.
If you want, you can find the math to figure out a best case scenario assuming no other traffic, slowdown, etc. and it's still not enough. and you'll never attain that best case scenario anyway.
