Quote:
Bloodlust is a Single-Player Role Playing Game (RPG) for your Windows PC - Explore the 3D world of a forgotten society of Vampires and disciplines, while trying to battle for hierarchy among the clans.

Story
Quote:
Varic and Vista, two silent, dark, and solitary "ShadowHunters" find themselves resurrected into a lost city terrorized by the all-powerful "Emperor" Ranior, a monstrous vampire lord. Haunted by visions of darkness and tormented by their ghosts from the past, Varic and Vista struggle daily, though they always continue to move forward. With each victory they grow stronger, increasing bloodline and skills in the "Dark Arts", but all at the cost of their humanity. With each new bloodline, they find themselves turning more into the vampiric monsters they were resurrected to destroy. In the end, their great power will be challenged only by themselves, as they will have to face the source of their own immortality and decide whether to embrace the darkness or destroy it.

It does look promising indeed on paper (especially the "non-linear storyline and quests" part), but the unknown date of release and that gameplay video aren't very reassuring :/

That gameplay video was probably a bad choice for the team... but it's a singleplayer vampire RPG that looks, and sounds, like a classic Masquerade. I am SO in Very Happy

Still sounds incredible, but considering it's coming out nearly three years after it was last announced then we can only hope they improve the visuals somewhat. Gameplay wise though it really does sound great.

They still accept beta testers, for anyone interested.
They want people to quickly finish the full game to get feedback before the final release.
For anyone curious after finishing the demo, go ahead and send them an email.

I saw a few friends playing this earlier and it looks interesting. Is it worth trying to get into the beta or just wait 6 month or so for the game to maybe come out of early access?

The game is schedule to come out of Early Access in 2 weeks in a half. This seems to be why they're so eager to get beta testers to complete the game right now and give feedback. They want people who can complete the game in 2 weeks max.

I remember hearing that minimal time in EA is 2 months , but I guess that changed now

Released, ten reviews and a overall score of "positive" so it might not be that bad. Smile

EDIT: And somehow I completely missed the "Early-access" notifications. Razz

It's not so bad, but it's more of a dungeon crawler than a RPG.
The quests aren't particularly interesting. Nor are the characters.

But if you want a dungeon crawler with an adequate amount of content which shares the visual aesthetics of VtM: Bloodlines, you could do worse. The environments are nice, the music aint bad, the animations are poor.
The quests aren't terribly interesting, and mostly act as a way for you to go to new locations. New "dungeons".

Yeah I just read that when I checked the games Steam community forum, seems the developer had a pinned topic there explaining what the game was about. Smile

Note from Developer - What Exactly is Bloodlust?
Hello Everyone... Thanks for taking a look at Bloodlust.

I know some people might be hoping Bloodlust is the un-official sequel to another popular vampire rpg... However those are some pretty big boots to fill considering that game was done by a good-size team with a large budget, etc.

Bloodlust is small indie "Dungeon Crawler" style game made mostly by one person (me).

I wanted to create a dungeon crawler but rather than use the typical medieval characters normally found in these type of games - I thought I would try something different... with dark kindred lore and features not normally found in this style of game, such as allowing players to sire a family through their embrace, while growing in bloodline and building reputation with factions, unbeknownst where your true loyality lies.

Bloodlust allows you to grow into a powerful vampire as you increase attributes, talents and skills, while exploring a labrynth of passages, dungeons, caves and sewers deep beneath a dark city run by several different rival vampire factions.

If you enjoy dungeon crawlers you may want to give Bloodlust a try.

Thanks
Bill
(Developer)

And a bit below that someone asked about the games length.

Quote:

It's still in closed Beta and not enough testers have finished the game yet to give an accurate "average" playing time - however if I had to guess probably between 15-30+ hours (because the dungeons are huge with multi-levels - you can spend 100+ hours in there if you wanted)

Early Access price is $12.99

I'm actually enjoying this. But I haven't got far. I don't mind graphics, they are OKeish and doesn't hurt the atmosphere the game has. We'll see how the game turns out when v1.0 is released.
