Both of those are sadly out of stock on the early access keys. So even if you preorder there you will only be able to play on the 20th.

For those that are buying on g2play or similar sites, you can get early access here for 7$:

I ordered the early access key. Early access will start just before/during a weekend, otherwise I have to wait another whole week before I have time to play, and then it's christmas and newyears and I'll be partying throughout most of those.

the problem its that you will eventually play before the 20, but when? EA can just troll the last early-access newcomers letting them play the 18-19th.

thanks both of you, I will probably buy there and skip early access. They are pissing me off advertising false prices on their website

For 7$ I feel it's a risk worth taking. If it's 18th I'll be satisfied with that since I plan on playing it the most sunday afternoon. If it's 19th, well then fuck them up their butts.

why are people paying for pre order codes if you can get it for free from amazon? (and once you get it you can cancel the order and order somewhere else cheaper . . . )

I hate MMOs and I bought this (I loved KOTOR). The whole "up to five days" thing is kind of shady to me, though. Can't wait to see how that works out.

if you do so, they stated will NULL the preorder code, even after you have registered it... dunno if they can.

I'm curious about this early access code thing. I would've thought your pre-order code is linked to your actual game code.

Also, I've never used Origin so I'm a bit confused about the whole regular game keys process. Bioware stated somewhere that you don't need to use Origin at all to play the game, it's just that it is the only way to buy the digital version(officially). But since we're already buying the key from another website(g2play for instance), what's the use for origin?

If it's all safe, I'm actually considering buying that 7$ early access code, because it may be better to only get 1-2 days, since you skip both peaks of population in the starting areas(the first day of early access, and the first day of release)

MMOs always use separate keys for pre-order and the game itself when it comes to physical copies. The pre-order key allows for play during the early access period, and usually a grace period of a few days after release, to let people get hold of their physical copy containing the actual game key.

Sites that sell keys obviously deal with physical copies. You will only need to use Origin if you buy the game through Origin. Otherwise it's all through SWTOR's site and launcher.

swtor has its own installer and launcher, so origin is indeed optional.

Its pretty much the same thing WoW has Smile

Oh, thanks. Never pre-ordered a MMO so I had no idea they did that. By the way, if sites that sell keys deal with physical copies, why do they mention origin at all?

That's why I was so confused about Origin, I played during the beta and everything related to my account(including the option to add the game key) was on the swtor website.

i read some pages again on swtor forum.

so .. people are just plain stupid that they refuse stuff like dual spec (they even ask for penalities for people who chose to dual spec) and they say that lfg panel is a crap and stupid ideea (better to stay in a place for 1-3 hoaurs and spam general chat with shit requests for party.). some are even pleased with the ideea that they canot move a bar from ui. cause you know, if ui is crap and unmodable, the real skills of players are shown.

are they stupid, or i'm stupid to expect at least the basics ?

It's Bioware game about Star Wars. It is therefore perfect and anything they add will make it worse.

what does dual spec mean? You can choose to have two different ACs? Like a jedi guardian - consular?

No. Dual speccing means you can have two sets of talent point distributions to switch between. This would let a Trooper Commando switch between DPS and healing, for example.

It's something every game like this needs, really.

No, just having 2 spec builds available at the same time (you know each AC has 3 spec trees, and you get to make 1 build. You can then reset it by paying some creds)

Basically, without dual spec playing a healer is a chore. As whenever you go questing/grinding you'd have to pay a lot to respec into a dps.

no, it would mean you can chose 2 different talent specs, not class specs.

most (all ?) classes (advanced classes, lets call them what they are, classes) have 1-2 (3?) different uses , DPS/Heal/Tank. Its usually handy to have an offspec you can switch to, to fill an empty spot in a group.

Some people also like to have a pve and a pvp spec handy, but mostly its for the first one Smile

its apparantly less of a chore in swtor then it was in WoW, but i guess in higher tier, soloing 4 man instances wont be possible anymore (also , they apparantly raised difficulty in last weekends phase, lets see how that turned out hehe).

For those that are playing in the beta, is solo'ing a decent possibility? I'm rarely in the mood for grouping and I prefer to play solo.
