Is it me, or does the sky look lame? The overall graphics without heavy AA enabled are of worse quality than Vice City's IMO, and the sky just looks like it isn't finished yet.

yep.. vice city seemed alot more nicer looking.. maybe its because it had more blur effect.. i dunno

I used the clone version with the hoodlum crack and then the multi lang crack.

I completed 30+ missions without a single problem...

I have 512 MB DDR, Athlon 1600+, GeForce3Ti200 64MB and it runs beautifully. I first ran it at 1024x768 with visual effects on very high and draw distance maxed out. Now I've changed to 800x600, high and added 1 AA and it works fine and looks pretty good.

using daemon 3.47 and hadnt had any crash or whatsoever. Only prop is the sounds gets freaky sometimes.. Repeats itself and in the cut-scenes, they audio/subtitles doesnt sync with the video.

But i think these props are hardware dependent..

Not really. He must be one of those that can play with low framerates because there is no way in hell that his setup will play this game with those settings at a minimum of 30fps. I know because I have almost an identical system except my cpu is abit faster and my gpu is clocked at 270/620 which is abit more than a normal ti4200 and I sure as hell are not getting 30fps as a minimum with highest quality setting.
Dont listen too much at what people say when they say "runs great" because their standards can be ALOT different from yours, and they most likley are in this case as long as "runs great" for you is a minimum of 30fps Wink
My guess is that those with medicore systems runs the game with the framelimiter on (25fps max) and if they find that playable, well then they dont mind low framerates. It's unplayable in my opinion with the framelimiter on.

If you want good framerates (not below 30 at any time) then you will without a doubt have to lower it to low. But do not fear, low does not look that much difference compared to the other options.

yeh i reckon thats probably it... i changed my audio drivers from the Nforce set built into forceware 5.10 (official) to some realtek alternatives, but i also changed my vid drivers from nvidia officials to the latest beta... so i wasn't sure which fixed the problem, but i have been running since yesterday and dreaded reboot hasn't appeared ... i guess its the official audio driver on nforce built sound causing the trouble

This one is real simple, just dont touch that mouse when you are driving!

And the camera will automaticly start to track the car you are in.

hhhmm there seems to be a connection with ATI cards and bad performance.
For me it doesn't matter what resolution or level of detail I have, it is still choppy as hell.

My spec:

2.3 ghz celeron
512 MB Ram
ATI radeon 9800 pro 128 mb

Yeah but I'm not the only one with this problem.
And besides lowering my detail and resolution should help but it doesn't.
Right now I play with 1024x768 with full drawing distance,AA 3 and very hig detail level and it runs exactly the same as 640x480, 0 drawing distance, no AA and low detail.
My computer should play this game without a problem but it doesn't and I'm not the only one with these problems(and they have ATI cards as well, haven't seen any nvidia owner complain about it only ATI)

yep same here.. i got p4 2.8ghz.. 1gig ram.. 9800

If i put it on 1280x1024 with full draw distance.. everything high etc... run the same as if i put it on 640x480 with low etc... Vice city ran perfect./

How about defragging? Try that...the game is lying on huge amounts of data.

no.. don't defrag, it won't that much difference..... disable your sound driver in device manager and then see if you get the same issue (at least that will tell you what to look at)
