Sometimes my mind wanders, and I thought about it. We all know we're going to die some day, and at least I've witnessed it enough times to know there's different ways to die. So I'm wonderin', how would YOU like to go if you can choose?

Personally I think I prefer if it's by my own hands, ie. when I get to a point where my health is about to deteriorate so much that I can't really live; I think I'd go do something completely irrational, like jumping out of an airplane without a parachute or something like that. Dying without knowing it in some accident without notifying everyone is not my thing, nor is withering away, or just fighting some disease. For some reason a lot of people think that you should just try and "die naturally", nothing scares me more than that. Guess I'm just a control freak.

Its an easy thing to freak out about..especially for those who do not believe in any particular religion or afterlife. I know a girl who just went batshit insane for a couple of years because of it..or so she claims that's the reason.

IMO: It's just one of those trollbrain things that happen when your mind starts to relax..like remembering the time you tried to dryhump your sisters barbie when you were 8. Focus your mind Very Happy

You don't fear death then - you fear suffering and being helpless.

Fearing death is irrational because it implies some sort of existance after death.

I agree with what you've said though - I obviously wouldn't want any kind of suffering. I don't think people think of that when they speak about "dying naturally". They are most likely thinking about falling asleep after a long day preferably surrounded by those close to them.

Well that depends.

If I'm about to become a vegetable, I'd rather be euthanized than being a burden to my close ones.

But other than that I haven't given it that much thought.

Yes, pretty much. But I do fear death, not because there is "some" existance after death, but because there likely is none.

This makes me more focused on living though and accomplishing something worth remembering though, so a healthy dosage of fear can lead to good things.

I fear torture or uncontrollable pain more then death. The slow painful death, like that which comes with some illnesses. For the most part I see death as some sort of release.

This. After seeing my uncle go over the course 7 years, I won't put my family through that if I ever become that ill. Other than that I haven't given it much thought either, but if I'm diagnosed with some terminal illness which will prevent me from living a relatively normal life until my death I'll most certainly petition for euthanasia. Damn the dumbass countries who still haven't legalised it.

So what pumpy is saying is that he will die on the inevitable crash after that, then?
Not a bad way to go.

Anyway, what fisk said.
Withering away in a mix of disease and dementia without being able to end it like my grandfather is right now does not seem like a pleasant experience. Neutral

I support "aktiv dødshjelp" (eng: active death help?)
Because if someone close to you really is suffering and they want to die, they should be able to get the help.

Very rarely have I thought of dying. I'll choose the cliched way, anyway - a peaceful death in my sleep when I'm around 100 years of age.

Don't really care how I die, as long as I'm not in pain, and mentally coherent.

What I do care about is what happens after I die. I want my body to be chained to a huge boulder and dropped in the middle of the sea.

No burial, no priest, NO PAYING FOR A MOTHERFUCKING BURIAL SPOT.
My grandfather died recently, and when I saw how much money was spent burying a sack of rotting meat, I vowed never to let that happen to me.
Even the priest refused to hold a mass for him unless we paid,I'm sorry, voluntarily gave some money to the church.

I don't need a spot in a cemetery to keep memories of someone.

Just follow the DIY-brotip if you've seen enough shit in your life and don't wanna live on this planet anymore:

plastic bag over your head -> cuff your hands -> done.

You can leave a suicide note if you like to ...like "I'm off you fuckers, see you in the limbus when I'll try to rape the shit outta you"

easiest way Very Happy

nah, I think I would prefer an accident where it happens quickly without a big mess. I wouldn't want to die in a bed because of a disease - saw that shit happen to my dad...nah, not with me.

Cremation. Simple.

Unless you'd like to be sent via spaceship into the Sun, that can be a bit expensive Very Happy

Agree with what you said, but the difference is that I want to be burned and my ash to be thrown away from a scottish mountain (or something like that) and be claimed by the northern winds. A viking funeral would also be awesome!

I was thinking about it too... The point is that i am not too religious and i just dont belive in most of that crap and think that most of christianity (my religion) was forger in medieval by those fucker popes who would do everything for power and money.

About death itself... I am not scared of pain or whatever offcourse. The thing that bothers me is... What then? black screen with no sound?, nothing?(what nothing), hell or heaven?(which i doubt), reincarnation in any form or instant born in another human?

From scientific point of view my brain will shut down and I will not think about anything... i just cant wrap my head around that.
The same thing goes for creation of the universe. There is no way our brains are capable of explaining this. if god created it... who created him and his makers and so on.- how etc.
if it was created by chemical reactions, then where this chemicals came from and why they exploded.

There possibly is an explanation but its nothing what we could logicly think about. Its just like electricity. imagine explaining that invisible energy force could power invisible magnets to turn around?...

A good way to die? Getting wasted with viagra and humping an underage girl that's 8x younger than me (I'm 106), then just as I 'finish' I get a triple heart-attack, and good luck moving me I was on top hehe.

My own inevitable death doesn't bother me anymore, but the thought of the deaths of those of my loved ones that will almost inevitably die before me, bothers me tremendously.

I'm a weak agnostic, so I have no reason to believe in life after death - nor a good enough reason to rule it out.

As for how I prefer to go? Instantly, without prior notice.
