Goddam, everytime I finish a quest I get four more in return and I'm not talking about the shitty fetch quests. I still can't beleve how huge this game is. There are also some strange quests, I like it. I seem to have been very lucky with this game. It runs great with heavy ini tweaking and mod usage, I don't have the dragons flying backward thing and the patch has actually given me some increased performance.
I also really like the main quest. It's not epic, I hate epic. It flows through the world as a red thin line, without being in your face. I'm also still amazed how the animations and voices are done whenever I see a unique/named dragon.

It's been a long time since I've been overwhelmed by a game, there's just too much to do. If my only major complaint is that books aren't marked as read, it must be a great game indeed.

How should Bethesda fix the PS3 problem since it's a HW problem? Add more RAM via a patch? This is what happens when a dev studio is forced to use all platforms when the game is obviously too much to handle.

Fuck! Just realized that you can't go from Dragon Armor to Daedric Smithing. Now I won't be wielding a Daedric greatsword anytime soon... Sad Why you make it a circle if it doesn't work like one? Mind Is Full Of Fuck

Man this game is massive.... 70 hours and I haven't done a single enchantment yet. Got full Daedric Armor/Swords/Bow and 100 sneak/heavy armor. At this point is Enchanting even worth bothering with?

That's why RPG's (especially big ones like Skyrim) are a sin to play on consoles. I can't imagine not being able to use mods and be at Bethesda's mercy (we all know Bethesda and mercy clash with each other Laughing ).

Also, there isn't a thing you can't fix on a PC if you have the knowledge. Corrupted saves? No problem... use a HEX editor. Cool Face

Sin on Consoles?
Ive finished Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas, Mass Effect 1&2 and most of other 2008+ rpg games on 360. No problems at all.

But I have to agree on mods and cheats. Ive modded hell out of morrowind back in 2002. houndreds of hours. Same with oblivion. Now I fell old and I only want to play games after years and years of fiddling with games on pc etc.

Wait? You cant smith daedric armor at will? 100smithing here and I have both heavy dragon and all daedric equipment.

The smithing tree isn't circular, despite its look, so if you take the "left" branch and end up at dragon smithing, you can't carry on clockwise to get to daedric - it doesn't work. You have to go count clockwise from the bottom. I agree, it's very not fun.

Well, for me it is a sin. Very Happy I never would've gotten past the first hour of Oblivion and F3 without mods. New Vegas was a bit better, but still needed tweaks. There were also quest problems before the game was patched, which you could fix with the command console. Skyrim is nowhere near as bad as Bethesda's previous games (it doesn't need mods anymore to become playable), but a mod here and there keeps the game interesting for me. Without them, I most likely would be bored by it by now (or too frustrated for not being able to find a decent amount of elven arrows to match my bow Very Happy)

I think mods are a must in most large RPG's. Mass Effect doesn't matter because it's too short to become really boring. Very Happy And then you have classics like Torment, where the story keeps things interesting, and you can't really get bored of them, even if you don't do any modifications. Wink Sadly, they don't seem to make them like that anymore. Mad

They're getting to the point where it's difficult to keep making a more impressive game than yesterday and still using stone age technology. The next generation consoles should seriously have a high-speed port where they can insert a mid-life hardware upgrade package. I'm so fed up with these bloody consoles holding back technology.

It does make sense though as you need practice with heavy armor before doing ebony and daedric though the whole anvil shape might not have been very appropriate since there's no way to know that you have to progress "upwards" with how it's laid out. Smile
(I much prefer Ebony over Daedric though but both upgraded are fairly equal as is dragon armor though it's mostly just a extra but I believe the light scale version of the armor does outclasses glass armor just barely while the heavy bone variant loses out to daedric.)

(How you can actually even smith daedric at all and work with ebony with those crude forges - aside from possibly those two special forges - is a entirely different mystery but it works OK as is for gameplay.)

(Lore wise - and not that important to the game or anything but a fun fact maybe - Ebony "metal" is sort of the blood of Lorkhan or Aedric in origin - Akatosh and those - with Daedric armor being a sort of fusion with ebony and the soul of a greater daedra - not quite princes such as Mehrunes Dagon though - so a mix of Aedric and Daedric though the art of crafting it was lost ages ago, until now. Razz - should require a grand soul-gem in addition to the heart maybe? but that's just being picky.)

(But using a heart is a very nice touch and finding them outside of special merchants is quite a chore since there's very very few dremora around.)

(Where is the scamp, alit, clanfear and ogrim anyway, not to mention golden saints, dark seducers, vermai, winged twilights and morphic plus of course Xivilai in addition to Dremora. - http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Daedra )

(Then again there's a ton of creatures in the TES series, minotaurs would have been nice to see return as would centaurs and nymphs or even golems. - http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Bestiary )

Agh. The problem with going the light armour way with Smithing is that it deprives you of the superior weapons in the Ebony and Daedric sections, which outclass Glass stuff. Sure, you can find/buy Ebony/Daedric stuff eventually, but without those perks, you won't be able to upgrade those weapons anywhere near the level you could reach with Glass items.

For example, in my case, with 100 Smithing, 89 Archery (plus assorted perks) and some Smithing-enhancing gear, I can get a Glass Bow up to 130 or so attack power, but an Ebony Bow? Only 88. That essentially means I won't be able to find anything better than my legendary Glass Bow, except perhaps one that has a particularly powerful enchantment on it, and I can upgrade it to the same level.

Seems to me they could've thought this out better.

Ah of course, the twice as good upgrade bonus from those perks.
(Well Ebony is a bit damaged with it's full set bonus but there's a mod for that - http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2507 )

Is it just me though that was extremely let down by smithing? I mean i managed to get 100 at around level 20 or so and could craft the most OP stuff so i immediately got "bored" since i knew there would be no upgrades left in the game to allow any excitement from looting.

Personally when playing rpgs i care about 2 things. Character customization (perks / skills etc) and loot. And looting became void after that.

I must admit, for someone approaching the end of their 'gaming life', so to speak lol (I'm nearly 50 years of age Shocked), and have been through a few gaming moments in my life. I can honestly say that Skyrim has to be one of the greatest games I've ever immersed myself in. Not without faults mind you (nothing ever is lol) but it does make me wish I was 20 years younger as the future looks very bright indeed Smile Now, if only Bethesda can build on this and get it right, who knows? You lucky sods!!

I'm still enjoying the game, but I can see how smithing can dampen the fun of playing it. The problem is that the unique loot (such as the daedric artifacts) very rarely have any actual unique aspects to them, and with a maxed out smithing your self-crafted stuff will most likely beat them in pure dmg/armor numbers. Would've been nice if more items were like the Ebony Mail, for example - its aura is completely unique (and very cool Smile) in the game, I believe.

a lot of those tombs have a series of rooms that connect via 'secret' doors. i walked around in one for ages wondering wtf to do and finally saw the chain or handle-on-a-rock that let me into the first room of the sequence. once you get into the first one the rest are (at least the ones i have seen) just small rooms with more chains/levers until you get the prize and get funneled back out into a main hallway.
