I wonder if it's possible to mod the wireless receiver that i had with my logitech G7 (or any other wireless mouse adapter) into a plain wireless device that can be use as a range extender or as a wireless client device ?

It's a USB dongle and operate on 2.4ghz , much like all those wireless adapter you can buy for your wireless router. I wonder if by flashing it with some firmware or with another trick i'd be able to convert it ? No idea if it's A , B , G or N but my guess would be B.

Looked a bit on google but didn't find much. So i'm asking if there are knowledgeable folks who may give me adivice on this Very Happy

I seriously doubt it.
would be like trying to mod your cordless phone that runs on 2.4 to be a range extender. just because it just happens shares the same freq bandwidth doesn't mean its connection type, protocol, handshake, data transfer method, or packetrate are anywhere near compatible.

the bandwidth freq it uses is just the allotted range they are allowed to use, it doesn't have anything to do with the type of connections it can do. not to mention the power rating of it. and the distance it can send/receive. USB mouse dongles are low power-short range. trying to bump it up to a wattage that could send the signal 100-200ft would fry it in a minute.
