Any other downsides other than having to use English language files and VPN activation when using a Russian key? I figure $20 is cheap enough to try it out Also, anyone know where to get a russian key under $20?

No, not yet anyway I thought that for under $20 it would be worth wasting a few hours on, I mean that's what they charge for a map pack anyway Laughing

i've got them too., but randomly at play; freezes and goes to the mystical blue screen (that windows 7 still has... Razz) it happens from about a 10% of the times i load the game; annoying but meh... nothing to do about it, just start again. (the game is so linear i don't get upset to mass kill the horde of enemies, till the next checkpoint Razz)

got the same problem with black ops.

(in both games, i play with everything maxed). not a clue about the black downs).

Nope - you are wrong. You ain't the first and you won't be the last to blame one game. It's a very common misconception cos "everything else runs fantastically well flat out" but it's definitely a system problem - hardware or driver related.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Screen_of_Death - it's wiki and vague but generally covers it.

Just cos you have good components does not mean to say the machine isn't faulty. It may not be an actual physical flaw. Could easily be a dodgy bios setting or driver. You'd get some idea if you actually read the error message that comes with the BSOD but seeing as how you think BSODs are "mystical" I doubt you've disabled the auto reboot to have a look. Just flashes blue and restarts eh? (apologies if you have though) ... You can actually debug the crash dumps as well to get some closer idea... I'm speaking from experience btw... I've fixed BSODs that were caused by everything from flaky power supplies to dodgy memory timings in the bios - and some were only happening in one game. Also if it was a problem with the game you'd expect it to happen for more than the odd few ppl.

Go research solutions and you'll not find any where there was a game fix or patch that solved a BSOD. Yeah some might back off settings which might stop them but that's not a true solution. If your rig can run the game flat out then it shouldn't fall over if all the components are in good health and the hardware and related drivers are configured correctly.

You got a problem with your rig mate - I know you love it and don't wanna believe it but it's there somewhere and, like the wiki says, the BSOD is windows way of stopping further damage. Wink

Ok, so yesterday I bought this, though I bought a Russian key for $19, which to be honest is a pretty damn good price. Had to activate it with a VPN of course, but that took 5 mnutes and the game downloaded in English right away, so no fucking around with language files.

Played for about 2 hours (MP only, will never touch SP. And not to sound like the most obvious man in the world, but really, who in their right mind compares this to BF3? It's not that BF3 is better (which it is), but they are really two very different games. Yes I know, I'm kind of "preaching to the choir" here, but it's like comparing Need for Speed to GT5/Forza. Same genre, ok, but not even close to being the same experience.

It is certainly fast paced and rarely dull, it really is a solid arcade shooter. What I like the most after the quite short playing time is the new weapon sounds, and that they feel more powerful/has more kick to them. I've picked up many weapons during my matches to try out weapons I haven't unlocked, and none of them feel "bad", really. Don't know if that's good or bad but I never felt gimped by a gun.

And sadly, we're back to the world were there are no dedicated servers, fantastic. I only played for two hours like I said, but I ran into at least 2 BLATANT cheaters, aiming and even firing at you before you came around the corner etc. Extremely obvious.

Can't say much about the maps, only played two maps more than once, takes a while to get used to them, I still run around like a lost child Razz

Lots of shit to unlock, think I like the idea of leveled weapons (kind of like the kit-levels in BF3), and damn there are a lot of unlocks, awards etc after each match in the beginning.

So for $19, I think it's worth it actually, on the PC anyway. For the retail price of what, $49 or so? Fuck that shit. Ridiculous. And $49 AND for the 360/PS3? Ehh...
