Just ran the autopatcher to get that third update, version number on that is 1.01.6235 so it only seems to miss that third hotfix for well whatever it does.

I own the game, unsure if I mentioned that earlier, not been very active in this topic from what I remember.
(Well what major game is there left that I don't own, heh I'm a bit too casual and accepting I guess.)
The patch seems to mostly focus on the exe file itself so if Reloaded like say just tinkered with the Orbit launcher it would work just fine.
(If not one can just patch the game anyway and revert to the old exe and the rest of the files it updated would likely be kept intact and working.)
Come to think of it I wonder how the cracked version does with global events and all that?
(Current one is some nuclear warheads used by a bandit faction.)
("All that" also includes profiles and the whole voting mechanics plus promotions but it probably works the same in what I assume is the offline variant to the game.)

I don't get it - on the first mission I'm supposed to pick up materials from the docks, but he's not giving me anything, is this bugged?

Did you use the autopatcher before copying over crack files? people say the bugs with ship routes are gone after applying the latest patch.

Actually, after updating the game it works fine, but performance for me is decreased like a lot and i got lag spikes every few seconds. :<

You updated via autopatcher.exe in the game's folder ?

What exactly do you mean by "intolerable performance"? Mine seems to be limited to 30 fps max judging by fraps. Demo ran a bit smoother, but it's playable. Gonne play a bit with gfx settings.

no performance issues here on the retail version.
on a i5 2500k and 5850, runs smooth even with a city of 2500+
think its an issue with the crack or work arounds?

Crack is fine. Getting up to 35 fps in first mission after turning off vsync. HD5850/PhenomX4955 (AMD4LYFE)
edit: up to 60fps now after alt-tabbing back and forth a couple times. Weird.

How bad is the performance?
It drops to 40fps for me when the camera is above strindberg's island using an OC'ed I5 and OC'ed GTX580 maxed out @ 1680x1050. Otherwise it's 60 all the time so far(only on mission 1).
This is on the retail version.
EDIT: After disabling Vsync I get 60+ fps all the time.

yea only got high in retail also.
this is the settings I'm using currently, and no performance problems at all..not sure the difference for you
