Searched for thing and it did not even return one result. Tried changing it to posts, search in title and message, just message... NO results.

Best release so far is R5. And it's a prequel. I also thought it was a remake, but it isn't.

Excuse me, I knew it was a prequel and not a remake, just used the wrong word Smile

R5... does that mean a bluray is around the corner? Will try to wait then Crying or Very sad

Some movies get regional DVD's early on, such as the R5 ones in Russia, to combat piracy, bur aren't any indication whatsoever of an upcoming bluray betimes. It's even quite unlikely to have a bluray release this year.

Search is nada.
People have no idea how important search is. Now expect 10 threads for each game because a creator needs to go 10 pages of PC gaming section to find 3 day old thread.

A solution has to be found.

I don't think there is going to be a solution to this particular issue as the table was cleared. It was causing a large majority of the issues with site performance it seems. I'd rather have the site stable than be able to search Very Happy

So wildcard search has been disabled and the search function won't allow common words. In general I am capable of remembering uncommon words I used in posts. Unless posts or threads disappear, I am okay. Very Happy

Edit: Uhm search for uncommon words also doesn't work any more. Sad

This is true..but..still Crying or Very sad . Like Leo said the PC arena is the section that is damaged the most, once a thread disappears from the first page is basically lost forever Laughing

You can search for threads faster by listing through the pages and using CTRL + F when the search function is broken.

O RLY?

And how many pages do you expect people to go back to look for? This will either bring for useless thread bumping to have threads artificially at the front, or multiple threads on the same subject because people can't find what they are looking for.

The table that kept things stored and indexed for easier searching was so massive that it was causing slowdowns throughout the entire site. This is what caused all of those issues last week or such. This table was cleared so the search function has nothing cached at the moment, so nothing to return results.

[mrt] is working on installing a 3rd party search script over the next few days to see how well it plays with PHPBB so that we can get the ability to search back. It will take some time to fit into everything, but i'm sure he'll work it all out.
