Much the same as it makes every bosmer a treehugging pansy and every khajiit a skooma-addicted junkie, yes. Laughing

so glad i'm not the only one who noticed bethesda's stereotyping.
was racism against fictional races a feature too? along with the derpy psuedo RPG elements?

I generally find the RPG mechanics of Skyrim very weak, and flawed, where you have to do tricks like this to optimize your character: I never used restoration for healing, ever, because I didn't want to level from it, so I just used potions instead, and thus stayed stronger than the scaling enemies, because all my points went in to meaningful things like destruction and enchantment.

I just don't like Skyrim's mechanics, I think the level up by use approach is inherently inferior to level up by general XP. You can create way more unique characters, and have more control over your progress with a level-up system, than with a level by use system. Also, with this dumbed down mechanics, gameplay wise, there's no difference between the races (I mean 5 skill ranks, come on, that's completely irrelevant).

The "level up by doing" approach is fine and usable, however it needs the Major and Minor skills system that was in Morrowind and Oblivion for it to completely work. In Skyrim, you basically cannot do anything outside of what you actually want to level as otherwise your character level would be high (and therefore tougher enemies), but you will most likely be very weak. You really have to specialise from the very start of the game.

I'm afraid to go into smithing/enchanting as I'm already slightly out levelled as it is from doing some healing spells (restoration) and making a few potions (alchemy) - I'm playing as an archer/thief.

Shit, encountered my first bug... Can't talk to Anska after retrieving her scroll from the High Gate Ruins... She's just stuck in "attack mode", I tried to reset her by using Unrelenting Force but that doesn't help either, tried exiting room but she won't leave the spot she's in (close to where the scroll is, no enemies around either)...

Halp? Razz

First? Ha you've been very lucky, guess it's that Zen luck Smile

How about a MAJOR bug in Windhelm where the butcher quest simply won't start (because the butcher forgets to kill anyone).

started new aswell, played an orc juggernaut (2handed, heavy armor perks etc) but played on the normal difficulty. That combined with cheating me gold and smithing gives too many levels, im kinda between 1 hitting everyone or getting 2 shot by mages (raised difficulty). Feels gimped Smile

I too have decided after leveling 2 characters (pure mage and dual wield heavy warrrior) that the game is probably best enjoyed on an easier difficulty setting but just doing whatever the fuck you feel is appropriate for the character. Something about the leveling system just makes the min/maxing needed to do very well on master / expert feel really cheesy.

you don't even want to know how OP it is with the khajiit racial bonus, i've cleared entire dungeons just using the bow and range and then staying out of line of sight, got so bad i could sit right past the spot i knew the patrol would stop at and they'd walk right up to me, go "where did you go?" and then take off back to their posts.

lol wut AI too though, hopefully the AI gets patched to handle sneaking better though when/if it's ever patched.

it was just an encryption patch wasn't it? i doubt release groups are going to do the work to crack that again, they'll probably just release the updated crack when the first big patch comes i'd bet.

Same, pretty much, I don't really play the game anymore though, waiting for driver optimizations as well as overhaul addons to come in... Obscuro should be on the task Very Happy

Non faction quests == awesome.

Faction quests and storyline == poop.

Like seriously. 1 real quest in and I go from [shit noob tier I don't see how you're in] to [oh savior of the guild let me suck your cock] and 2-3 more later and I'm now guildmaster.

Radiant quest == we were too lazy to come up with actual faction quests so um

agreed. it feels like they tried to make those quest lines into 'bite sized' bits that you can sit down and do in one session almost. everything seems to go so fast and that its over before it really started.
'can i join your guild?'
'i dunno man, i dont like the look of you'
'come on dude lemme in'
'ok you now have the respect and admiration of everyone here, friend'
'awesome, hey, heres that thing you were looking for. forgot to give it to you last time i was visiting...found it in some cave the other day'
'cool. hey since you did me a favour im going to hand the guild over to you. you seem pretty capable of running it. all hail the guild master! *hail*''

you can use wasd to navigate the favorites menu to set favorites to a number too, extremely fast once you get used to it.

i hated the wasd in menus at first but once i got used to it i actually started liking it with how much quicker it was.

hey am i understanding this right.... theres a dragon shout that adds speed to your weapon attacks...

but when i use it, it says my weapon is already enchanted. does this DRAGON SHOUT only work on unenchanted weapons?! doesnt that make it insanely useless? i mean its a dragon shout, shouldnt it be an addition to any lowly enchantment a weapon has?

its like a temporary super defence boost that only works if you arent wearing armor.

It enchants the weapons sort-of and yes it only works on non-magical weapons. Smile

Not unheard of in RPG's... never played a monk character? Razz

But yeah obviously some shouts will be close to useless for some builds; there's some I haven't even bothered to unlock yet because I'd never use them anyway.

its just that a super badass magic dragon shout gets trumped by a shitty low level weapon enchant, boggles teh mind!!! its not that its useless, its just that it makes no sense at all!!
