That's just my point... TDK took place roughly six months after BB. This time there's a whole eight YEARS gap, that's just shitty storytelling :\

Yeah and of course sabin could do a better job.
If their is anybody that deserves some fucking respect its Chris Nolan, he has made the Batman alot of us fans wanted and so far done an AMAZING job, cast, script, cinematography, direction, character choice, everything!
The improvement from Begins to TDK was huge hopefully tdkr will just take it all another step.
Lets atleast wait until we see what he does with it before we judge it, my gut feeling is it will be the best of 2012, nothing touches tdk for me yet anyway especially on blu-ray, just amazing.

I'm not sure how an 8 year skip can be considered bad storytelling by itself. It all depends on the execution and the reasoning behind it. Consider amnesia - a concept so overused in modern cinema that it's considered a bad cliche - but it can be done creatively and even have the whole movie constructed around it (Memento).

And yet any reason given would be instantly shot down with excuse after excuse, so honestly.. what's the point? Not a single one of you would ever concede so I would just be wasting my time. Arbitrarily skipping time in movies and books is a weak plot device, it's used in order to artificially create mystery and it's even worse when used as part of a series - such as a sequel to a book or film - since it automatically gives the writer a free "pass" to excuse unwinnable situations from the previous entry, allowing for off-hand explanations to be given at a later date.
That's not engaging, it's just weak.
The fact that you're all getting so bent out of shape because I actually said something that was less than glowing praise proves my point about fanboys. This was never going to be a serious discussion, since nothing less than praise is allowed.

Yeah, well that's your opinion, men.
But indeed, the Nolan Brothers are known for their shoddy writing, and of course the eight years jump has no merit to the story whatsoever but to have shoddy... shod?
Indeed, color me as fanboy. I am a fanboy of all things I consider good. I wouldn't argue about Twilight because I don't care. You can say that eight years in Twilight are shoddy, and I wouldn't care. Oh yeah, so makes it totally valid for TDKR of course.

I didn't say THE story was going to be/is shitty, I said "XX Years Later" is a method of shitty story telling.

It's you that is criticizing something that you haven't yet seen. That was the only thing I reacted to cause its stupid. There is TONS AND TONS of literature in every media that employs the extremely well known and often used plot device of skipping in time to tell a story. Why is it bad here in this instance? None of us can know until we have actually seen the fucking thing but you call it shit. Who is ridicilous? The people saying wait and see or the gunslinger who judges something he doesnt know anything about?

Yet you're defending the same thing that you also haven't seen. Funny how that works, isn't it?

Criticise = OMGOMGOMGOMGHOWDAREU*!111
Yawn. I'm bored. Should have known not to pick a fight with the Nolan fans .. my mistake >_<

Both Nolan's Batman movies were outstanding and I see no reason why the third wouldn't be either |

How did you conclude that the gap is artificial or shitty? I do not understand.
Why must you always take things so seriously? Obviously you brought it up so you must've thought about it. Calling people who disgaree "fanboys" is ridiculous. That would make you a hater then no?
I don't care who writes what movie, I don't pay attention to such things. The only thing I know of Nolan is the Batman franchise, I have no idea what else he did.

What am I defending? did I say it was going to be great? No quite the contrary, I only said I have no idea which neither do you..Should have known better than to argue with someone so obtuse as you.

SabSab criticized the poor story telling. People got upset. Thought he insulted the batman franchise and nolan and all of the movies together. That's fanboyism. that's like me saying darth maul was a shit character and then some fucknut telling me the entire star wars story from begining to end and how i'm a derp for not understand the struggle that luke Skywalker and Anakin both shared in both trilogies. FFS!!!
bb and tdk 6 year gap... i had no idea. It didn't seem like it. The city hadn't aged. Characters haven't aged. Batman hasn't aged as a hero. bb ended with joker card. tdk began with the joker. If that's a 6 year gap... then either batman is a very lousy detective or joker was a slow retarded manchild who couldn't rob a bank until 6 years later
i agree with the 8 year gap being shitty story telling. I would prefer a 2 year gap. 3 year gap at most. Gah. If you're going to make an 8 year gap at least make it presentable.

I have no idea why the size of the gap can, in any way, directly relate to shitty storytelling?
That literally makes no sense.
