Getting "This item is currently unavailable in your region" while looking at the store page... Can't even see when the game unlocks for me now. Wtf are they doing?

well using that install address a few pages back i installed the game, and today i unlocked and played it.
im living in nz and its not available in my region either (and was previously scheduled for 25th unlock)
so maybe do that, korkin. use the steam force download link, and see if it unlocks for you when you finish downloading it.

I did all that and the game runs from the executable but the steam overlay doesn't work. I'm assuming it was supposed to be fixed once the game is available in my region but now I have no idea when it will be. Before it was on the 25th so just going to wait till then.

i'd guess the 25th too man, but hard to say honestly.
and.... wow... rocksteady has no playtesters for these AR challenge things with the gliding and grappling and crap, that much is obvious, i've completed all but the first four with routes that are obviously not the ones you're intended to use.

Just tested this, dx9 runs good here and it looks way better than in the first game.
Haven't tried dx11 yet, but I'm already satisfied with how it looks so I am not in a hurry to play it in dx11, I can wait for when they fix it.

you say runs from the executable... have you tried launching it from within steam?

There's no play button unless I'm using a US vpn.

well if you're not running it through steam obviously you cant have the overlay.
only thing i can suggest is see if steam will let you add the executable to steam as a non-steam game? maybe that could work.
bizare that you need a vpn to launch - where do you live?

It's not bizarre at all, there's no play button due to the game not being available in my region yet. Previously when I could access the store page the release date was the 25th.
But as of yesterday evening I can no longer access the store page due to "This item is currently unavailable in your region". Steam forums have similar complains from people so I'm not alone in this.
The only reason I'm able to play is because I used a vpn to decrypt the files.
My issue is that before, I knew when the game was going to be unlocked and now I don't, not for sure anyway.

it is bizarre because im in nz and the game has changed to "unavailable in my region" on steam AS WELL. and i was ALSO scheduled for a november 25th release.
so it sounds like im in exactly the same boat as you, except TODAY when i started up steam, i got a play button and you didnt...
and i dont need a vpn to play either.
SO... did you try adding the executable to steam as a nonsteam game like i said? does that work?

Quote from Neon
Quote: | Updated version of the guide since a lot of people started PMing me:
1. Download the VPN I posted earlier ( http://usaip.eu/en/free_vpn.php )
2. Without using VPN, open firefox, IE, chrome and write steam://install/57400 . Open your downloads tab on Steam and wait until it downloads.
3. Close Steam.
4. Open the VPN (select USAIP PPTP Missouri), connect to it, use "demo" as both login and password.(Without the quotes). Open Steam. Batman now has a play button on your list, press it.
5. Wait until it decrypts. After it does, right click on the icon in your game list and click "View CD-Key". Copy the CD-key somewhere safe, you'll need it for Securom activation. Hang up the VPN connection.
6. Go to your Steam Batman directory(something like: E:\Steam\steamapps\common\batman2\Binaries\Win32) , create a file steam_appid.txt and put 57400 in it. If it's already there there's no need to create it.
7. Launch the game directly from the executable, not through Steam's game list.
8. When the Securom popup appears, enter the CD-Key you copied earlier (it is NOT the same as the Steam key!)
9. Play. |

so those sidemissions where you have to glide through checkpoints are impossible; i suspect you have to unlock some abilities/gadgets first to be able to complete them?

batman has sunk to a new low, where hes doing gliding missions and just fucking around to pass the time, instead of beating up villains and fighting injustice.
i blame consoles for this

You get switched to catwoman randomly through the story.
Also @ chiv
No, the game has a steam overlay even though I launch it directly through the exe. All Steam achievements unlock for me too, as well as GFWL ones. I posted a screen a few pages back.

Good for you Neon, but with 99% of the people it's not working, including me.
Unless 99% is fucking retarded and Poland is the top of the world, i just think you got lucky there by getting both to work.

well tickle me and call me elmo, both steam achievements (which lets face it, are the only reason to play games) and gfwl achievements are working for me too.
