Naw, I haven't tried the cracked release because it's either "all DLC" or "no DLC" and I'd either ruin the game from unlocking everything, or lose the Genki pack I actually got legitimate >_< I'll just have to deal with it, even with a brand new machine I'm used to shit fucking up for no reason.

~edit~

God DAMN this game is awesome.

it's kinda depressing in a way how good this game is taking the length and utterly crap driving model into consideration, if it wasn't artificially shortened to 20 hours at most and had a drving model comparable to GTA IV or Mafia 2 everyone would be saying "bethesda who?"

And stupid story, bad characters, boring action, boring activities (most of them) and just trying to hard to be "whacky".

true enough, but then again, it wouldn't be saints row without a heaping helping of cheese in the story.

Did SR2 have handling mod that fixed the driving? If so, I hope we can expect something like it for SR3.

i very seriously doubt it, volition really can't make a properly done driving model from what it seems, even RF Armageddon suffered to some extent from a bit off kilter driving engine, actually if you find such a mod, screw telling us, send it to volition instead, they could use a trip back to school as far as driving goes.

Sabin,does your Game crash if you use the launcher and pick DX10/11 Mode there?
I got that on one of my machines too,have to start it directly via the dx10.exe or it wont work at all
(cracked release tho).Maybe worth a try

Still,i get rubberbanding and warping in Coop...wish i knew what causes that

I don't get people hating on the characters.

I haven't had this much pure fun in a game for ages, and the dialogue is responsible for quite a bit of it.

Also, the driving is fine as it is. It's not supposed to be "GTA4 hyper-super-ultra-realistic-simulation".

@Betty

Sadly I can't run it via the .EXE directly, as it just calls the launcher again.

@dezz

I'm with you, this game is pure unadulterated fun and that's definitely due, in no small part, to the dialogue and plot. I love the banter and humour between the characters.

Christ, the cutscene where Pierce and the protagonist are at Kinzie's apartment and pierce finds her dildo is just hilarious.

The game calls the launcher?

I use the exe files directly but I would guess it's due to the steam_appid.txt file I've been using.

Don't have any DX11 / DX9 problems like what you are describing either but if it's a common issue I'll see what I can find, hopefully the first actual patch (Which will probably be made.) sorts out any such irregularities. Smile

Strange bug though.
(Seems you've had a lot of poor luck with some of these recent games and various quirks and issues, unfortunate.)

I still can't save games. I am using the Skidrow version. I couldn't copy over the steam files from the crack b/c that caused my game to crash.

Can anyone help me figure out how to get the game to save? Would love to try it...but not worth playing if I have to replay the 1st mission every time!

Nit

You can use only the exe files from Skidrow + Smarsteam.

Just finished it. Absolutely brilliant game! It's a shame that it's about half of Saints Row 2 though... and I seriously miss the old Shaundi, the old Pierce, Johnny Gat and Tobias. I miss the old gangs actually... apart from the Deckers, the ones in this one were kind of crappy and forgettable. STAG was a bit more interesting than Ultor though, love all their technology (the VTOL is so damn awesome!). What else... well, once again I must say, the soundtrack of the game is suprisingly great. The plot turned out to be more interesting than most of the plots in games these days. In my opinion, when it comes to the story this kind of puts to shame many other games that are meant to be serious. Well, that's pretty much it. I'm looking forward to the Gentlemen of Steelport mod and the DLCs that they're going to release as I want more of this.

all in all an awesome game, it's too bad it's so short, at least it was sweet while it lasted though, i know fanboys are gonna rage at this next thing but.... we so need the red faction destruction engine for the next one, that alone would be another 10-20hours of replay value if you could do destroy the buildings like in red faction.

it's kind of a shame volition is so shit at making decent driving models too, the cars and their past work on making things fall apart nicely.... they could give stainless a run for their money with the upcoming carmageddon game, but the cars would drive too derpy. Sad

Looks like the little things they removed from SR2 are getting back in the game through modding. Can't wait for Gentlemen of Steelport to be finished!
