This sounds very much as with Project reality Nintendo had going that became N64. They showed off a chip from silicon graphics and promised computer animations as in Jurassic Park and T2...what we got was Mario 64, Zelda OOT and GoldenEye. Which wasn't bad games, no I love them. But hardly anything close to Jurassic Park graphicwise.
Jesus, we haven't even got anything remotely close to Jurassic Park TODAY, 15 years later
I know! And that just makes Nintendos statement at that time even worse The sad part of the N64 was that it actually had more power in it then was used. When Nintendo ditched the cd-rom the developers couldn't even use all of it because of the cartridge limitation. That's what made Square jump over to Playstation for their next Final Fantasy among other things...
Perhaps his balls look like sommit from another planet...
As for the graphics quality thing, history has taught us that its bullshit before honesty.
I remember the N64 mess very well, Noncetendo started showing a rally game, can't remember the name but it was a 3 letter thing like G.T.R (could even be that), any how, the game shown was amazing for those days standards, but then rumours started and in the end Noncetendo had to admit they were showing "representations of what gameplay would look like" as opposed to real stuff, another words renders.
When the game came out it was a blurred mess looking NOTHING like the footage shown.
Mind you, Sony were no better, the Emotion engine was touted as being super real and they started showing footage of a game "Bounder", wonderful expressions on the characters, fluid real looking movement, amazing backgrounds etc etc.
Yet again, another render, the game when out was about 1/10th of what was shown...
So expect more as the race for the new consoles, Noncetendo has shown its hand early and as usual its more novel as opposed to graphically superior.
even that low res wouldnt be possible more than 0.000001 fps

Console Should only play games and maybe movies and music. Not a single more thing.
Only good innovation is xbl/psn and possibility to install games on xbox360. all the other facebook, zune, sports etc stuff belong to pc and smartphones.

More rumours. And that fictitious design of the xbox provided in the article looks like a gas canister.
Looks more like one of those fugly hand blowers. Ughh!

Codenamed TEN, is all about Metro, embedded Silverlight and an Apple-like integration with Windows and Windows Phone.
This sounds pretty shitty. No want.

What's wrong with consoles being multifunctional?
In general, there's nothing wrong with it. With consoles though thing is I, like other people, started with PC and the main reason I switched to consoles is because I wanted a gaming platform separate from everything else. I don't see how a device can be multifunctional and good at it, without one function crippling other functions - usually the less popular ones in favor of the more popular ones.
I've got my phone/tablet/laptop/PC for everything else, and I do everything else on those. I'd prefer it says that way.
I watn all the focus on the games. Everyone have laptops, pc and all other equipment for other things.
I think that as consoles system gets more functional and complicated it becomes more unstable and... if its like xbox - they will charge uses for EVERYTHING

What are you being charged for? I don't understand. I'd welcome a console which supports native x264 playback, a simple inet browser and good Bluray function.
Ive said games and movies+music are good. I dont like other things. Just start up 360. There is so much fucking junky things out there.
But yes. x264 would be nice

They already do that, you can play x264 with a JTAG/RGH boxed using a custom player. Not sure about a non hacked one as they don't come with media codecs on, so you have to get them form XBL, each individually depending on what media file you're trying to watch.
PS3 has browsers and Bluray so there's that covered.
I think KillerCrocker's talking about Netflix, ESPN, Zune Marketplace, online tv and other changes they're making in the near future and most definitively will be in the next gen as well.
Basically it isn't about media support and internet browsing but about the more acute focus on services, witch they will charge for.
Thats it cobalt + plenty of fucking ads and charging even for icons and wallpapers

This MS Nerd was the same guy that brought up rumours about the 360, so this might be more true than the "ten" or whatever they call it on above link from gamingbolt.
We have already talked about a lot of the new Xbox and the name of Loop Xbox has already come twice. Today is another source who told Xboxygen some new details about the next Xbox. We will not disclose obviously not his name, but just know that it is near the middle of Microsoft .
Our source tells us that the project first began in 2005 and is divided into two parts: Part Infinity for all that hardware and part Loop for the software.
It also tells us that an announcement will be made at CES 2012. Not necessarily with a huge announcement of the first games already, but we should have some information on the new console, as some of its capabilities. CPU level, it would be a hexa-core with 2GB of DDR3, and our source also told us of a prototype dual-GPU AMD. We could not know the RAM.
Apparently Sony is also on the alert for the Playstation 4 and the teams also expect an announcement not so long ago by the Japanese giant.
The CES 2012 will start on January 10 and count on us to follow very closely what will have to say Microsoft for this show. This is an opportunity to confirm this information or not.
Ubisoft Montreal is hard at work on 'target boxes' based on the intended specifications of Microsoft’s Xbox 360 successor, according to an Edge source. Delivery of the first iteration of genuine devkits, running custom hardware, is expected to reach studios before Christmas, and all signs point to the finalised console arriving at retail in late 2012.
Ubisoft’s teams are said to be working on PCs containing off-the-shelf components provided by Microsoft, and it’s our understanding that several other major developers, including certain EA studios, are also in possession of these target boxes. While our source was unable to share precise specifications, it is believed that AMD is providing the bespoke GPU solution for Microsoft’s console. A Ubisoft spokesperson said: "We do not comment on rumour and speculation."
We can also reveal that one major Sony-owned studio has now ceased PlayStation 3 development, its entire focus having shifted to the console’s successor. The studio is also said to have been involved in the development process of the graphics technology adopted by Sony’s new hardware.

Microsoft reportedly plans to launch two very different versions of the next Xbox.
According to a Digital Foundry report on GamesIndustry.biz, the first is a "pared down machine" to be released as cheaply as possible. It is likened to a set-top box, and will act as a Kinect-themed gaming portal.
The second is a "more fully-featured machine" with optical drive, hard disk and backwards compatibility. This would be aimed at hardcore gamers and released at a higher price-point.
