You need to go to the forge, select LEATHER, and then choose the LEATHER HELM option. If it's greyed out, you need to step over to the tannery and skin some pelts to get leather.
@inz
Is it wrong of me to be Lv13 and have still not even seen, let alone fought, my first dragon?
You must complete the quest in which you fight a dragon, i think. It's like the 3rd quest from the Jarl in Whiterun.I've fought 4 dragons so far i'm lvl 8.

Thanx, Sabin. In my defense, I wasn't exactly "sober" when I played last night...in-game and IRL.....

198,851 players right now. Holy fuck! That shit is insane!!
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
So for whatever reason many NPCs comment that I look sick. I can't for the life of me figure out what's wrong with my character. This a bug or am I doing something wrong?
Played half an hour, I am not impressed. A bit clunky, piss poor finishing moves comboes(dunno why they are there because they look bad, at least nothing special). And the ui\iventory whatever is poor, made for console I assume? Haven't played an elder scrolls game in a while, but I don't remember these problems in, at least morrowind. Never played Oblivion more than 5-6 hours. I'll give it a few more hours and see. The graphic at times is pretty good, but in this graphic style things often look weird, kinda hard to explain, but things overlap all the time and it looks horrendous.
So nobody has any idea how to smelt iron ore into ingots?
At the forge, all or most of the tools you need are close by to each other. Forge, workbench, tanning, grinding wheel etc. Just try them out. TBH its obviously designed for console users so its really very easy, you will be able to easily see which items are missing from the current object you are trying to craft.
The above does not suggest console users are stupid or anything, just less inclined to 'work' at a game than your average pc gamer.

You character is sick, go buy a disease healing potion or visit a doctor(different type i can't remember :>)

You may have contracted some kind of disease, maybe vampirism. Either way, you should be able to check from the Magic/Powers menu > All effects.
You can buy potions to cure diseases. In previous games there were also altars that would remove diseases as well, but I haven't seen any that do that yet.

I've crossed one of the altars that cured all diseases and ailments earlier

There are altars I found one by the roadside, cheaper than cure poison potions.
I too was fed up with people telling me I looked peeky!
Entered the building with this ship-shaped roof in whiterun and accidentally hit someone...didn't take long until they were all after me and keep bugging me as soon as I get close to whiterun...killing them is impossible as they get up after a while and so I end up dead...Aela the Huntress and some others...damn annoying..
