And that's the poorest comparison I've read in my life. You compare a FPS with a racing game to how many games using Gamebryo from the same view point, that has the same problems, with the same graphics and so on. Am I supposed to take that seriously?

Well, you're not the only one who gets to ask for evidence, I'll take some proof that it's entirely new from the ground up thanks.
Nobody is pretending they know for certain, it's my guess that it still is Gamebryo. Trust a modern developers word? Yeah, right. |
Theres no doubt in my mind that this is the same engine as FO:NV so if that was gamebryo then this is it too, and if it is "an entirely brand new engine" then the did a stellar job of making it behave, feel and look like gamebryo

Please post screens of the awful textures. If you're bitching because the rocks/algae on dungeon walls isn't glimmering with gloss. . .gtfo. Game looks and runs great on my modest rig.
About the only "complaint" that has real merit is the UI - but for those of using Gamepads. . .not seeing any problem. Really what need is there to use a KB/M for this game with all the problems.
Is it just me or are some interface elements not taking mouse clicks?
If you're whining about the character creation spot, just click on a new category if game is not responding to mouse clicks. Other than that KB/M clicks work fine in the UI, but why would you use it when there is a superior control scheme.

Here's what you're not understanding. Gamebryo is a renderer, not an entire game engine. It has nothing to do with the "feel" of a game, or the gameplay itself. The game engines powering Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim have all come from Bethesda.
The reason that Skyrim "feels" so similar to Oblivion, is because it's by the same development team. They have a style and a development methodology. Gamebryo doesn't have anything to do with it, and never did.
I repeat: people complaining about the game "feeling" similar to Oblivion solely because of an assumption that it "runs" on Gamebryo, are tards.

If you're talking about having only seeing low textures on everything and are an ATI user, this worked for me:
Catalyst 11.10
Catalyst Application Profiles from here: http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/pages/crossfirex-app-profiles.aspx
Enabled Catalyst A.I
Mipmap detail level was set to high performance by default. Changed it to Quality.

I switched to PC version , much smoother and faster experience.. and I thought it will run like shit cause FNV worked that way. Menus don't work well on PC tho , but it's not that bad..

I can't believe Bethesda actually so blatantly lied about the engine that it's a whole different thing just cause they changed the code a bit. >_>

Unreal engine what.
They require the logo, at last a small one. That's like.. the rule?
Also yeah, it is old, sucky Gamebryo, just heavily modified. But perhaps I'm a bit positive about "heavily" part tho.

Well if you install JBs patch (or whatever his name was) menus works like a charm, seems some files are borked with the razor release/crack. I suggest waiting for a proper.. And backup yer saves.

i reckon it's just industry jargon now, the have an existing engine but add some bells and whistles on and say it's an entirely new engine, at least with big releases, isnt UE3 just UE2 with a bunch of shader/lighting/physics support.

I put the following in skyrimprefs.ini under 'controls' and it seems to have fixed the very slow y axis.
fForegroundMouseAccelBase=0
fForegroundMouseAccelTop=0
fForegroundMouseBase=0
fForegroundMouseMult=0
Let us know if it does for you. |
Thanks, it's indeed better now
