Really? To me those are doughnuts as they're made in England Very Happy Usually filled with jam or custard (om nom) and impossible to eat without licking your lips Laughing Thanks for the clarification!

And yes, the fall of the Berlin wall was an epic moment indeed. I'm glad I was alive during that time, though being 8 years old I was too young to understand the impact and emotion behind it.

Although they look like berliners (German name), bismarcks (south-central Canada/north-central US name), and jelly doughnuts (generic name; sometimes "jam donut"), pączki are made from especially rich dough containing eggs, fats, sugar and sometimes milk.

In Sweden we call them sugar buns, jam buns or in the case of vanilla creme filling, vanilla buns (!).

EDIT: Oh, wait, sometimes we call them sylt-munkar (jam monks, where monk is our word for doughnut, probably because of the gloria shape or something).

They are of course berliners which is why Kennedy's quote from his speech "Ich bin ein Berliner" is so hilarious.."I am a pastry!"

Last I checked, there's a couple in London... but meh, I prefer Krispy Kreme. Not only are their doughnuts excellent, but their mocha is absolutely incredible too.

I don't think the ones in London are there anymore. Can't remember seeing a Krispy Kreme shop, although I have most probably walked past one before at some point.
