This is great news!
I loved earth 2150 skirmishes, no limits, massive battles.
Cool superweapons, mega super units.
This is gonna be great!

I will only consider this game after i read a review of it from a decent website. e.g Gamespot or Gamespy etc.

lol Gamespot aka -The guys who hate games- one of the crappiest websites ever. You can't believe any rating they give. And Gamespy isn't much better.

Epsilon I guess you mean PC Games (the best german PC magazine) because as far as I know we don't have a PC Gamer here and I know that PC Games gave Earth 2160 90%.

Well in the german forum of the game, they are angry about the balancing of the game. They say, defensive towers are way to strong and the units are played like paper stone scissors. No chance if you have paper units and stand against scissors units. Also research is way to much and about a half is useless.
But grafics are cool. Very Happy

The best german PC magazine?
What bnf said about their rating policy regarding games made or published by german companies is true, so those 90% should be taken with a pinch of salt. At least wait for the Gamestar rating (they might be biased in the opposite direction, though Very Happy)

Played some more and I'm starting to like it.
The Alien gameplay is interesting. No buildings at all, to produce new units you have to clone your existing standard units and then evolve those units into various combat units.
I also think that the online activation protection isn't all that bad, I hate having the CD/DVD in my drive to start a game and that ain't a problem with this game.

That sounds like too much micro management just to build a few different units.

I have played it now, started with the ED campaign, graphics as you know are top notch, and the game really captivates that feeling you had in dune 2 when you first started playing rts games, and you have this base you have to administer, more like an outpost really, and it feels that way when your carefully building up your defence and walls researching new technologies etc. I took my time playing the first mission building base and such, and i had a great time. Now i'm gonna go back for some more Earth2160 goodness.

I thought that was Bild's job already.
Anyway, i'll check for myself whether or not the PC Games rating is justified.

Don't count on it, but check www.insideearth.de theres a control panel tool, you can use it to run the game with minimal features, so maybe it will run then.

Maybe because it is not in english and it is hard to figure out things. But so far this game sux. Cheap units and boring gameplay..

I don't know about you guys, but nothing beats Command and Conquer.

Tested on an older system earlier on (before trying the game out properly on my gaming rig), specs for the older system were 1.2 ghz cpu, 386megs ram and ati 9600 pro with 256 megs ram, soundblaster audigy soundcard and the game ran really nicely at 1024x768 with settings ramped up to maximum looks pretty sweet too with the exception of the odd pause every now and then which I presume was the autosave feature kicking in. The settings in the ATI control panel were set at balanced mind.

Has to be said the game engine seems well optimized compared to something like C & C Generals judging by the way it looked and played on what is a lower spec pc. As for the game haven't given it a chance yet mainly due to the foreign language barrier. Razz
