Exactly. All these people who compare piracy to stealing or wanting to drive a ferrari (seriously??) wouldn't even think about buying a game if it would cost them 300E or more (to have a 1:1 ratio between our salaries and theirs).
But hey it's easy to flame others when you're living in a proper country and a game doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
The comparison fits. If gaming is so 'expensive' and not a necessity, in a country then by definition it is a luxury item. A reason one would steal a game and not a Ferrari is the difference in the risk of getting caught. But it's theft nonetheless.

I remember when this used to be a forum which supported piracy.
Anyway, I myself will not pay for something I can get for free (as long as there aren't other consequences). The point is that if nobody buys games, the industry goes broke, but my actions will not and cannot affect what the remaining hundreds of thousands of consumers do. The chances of my $40 saving a company are very, very slim, so there isn't any point to buy single-player games (except if it makes you happy that you did a "good deed" today).

This line of thinking can be a slippery slope though once it spreads far enough.
For me, the point in buying single-player games is to reward the developers for a job well done. That's it. I don't remember the last time I bought a generic 6-hour shooter at full price, but I definitely won't hesitate to pick up stuff like Skyrim or Deus Ex HR on day one, and I think I've bought Oblivion twice now.

That's a pretty weak reasoning. For example, there is presidential elections coming next year and I would say "I don't vote because it wouldn't matter that much anyway!". I used to only buy mp games, but sometimes you just have to support good developers. Or games you know you will be playing hundreds of hours.
