i heard this before.
"i'm sorry i only buy multiplayer games"
but in fact i think it reads either
"i'm sorry i HAVE TO pay for multiplayer games"
or
"i'm sorry i don't have money to buy singleplayer games"
but remember man, not having money is not something you should ALWAYS be ashamed of.
right ?
er.. or then again maybe not.
i dunno =] |
It means different people have different priorities in life. I do pay for MP games because i have to, yes. Your point?
Some people live in shit 3rd world countries where the average salary is like 200E. Please do tell how anyone's supposed to live with that sum AND BUY ANY GAME while having to pay for food/rent and everything else that really is mandatory.
While i'm not in that category, i don't see how anyone can judge people that earn 10 times less than them while doing the same level of work or maybe even more simply because they live in a different country which even though it has a horrible economy you still have to pay the same sum if not even more for the same products.
And don't come at me with "noone forces you to play games". Just be happy that your financial situation allows you to enjoy more stuff than others simply because of the country you live in.

Well, with that 200 euros average pay you somehow managed to get a modern PC that runs all modern games, you also pay for the internet ( I presume it is high-speed, because you can download releases, and they are bigger and bigger these days).
So if you managed to get a decent PC, why not spare a few bucks on a game that you personally like, even though it's SP?

I did say im not in that category.
But if i had 200 euros/month like most people here in Romania, i wouldn't even think about buying any games at all. Especially when i'd have to pay 60E compared to US who pay 60$ and at the same time earn 10 times if not more than people do here.
It's a matter of principle.
And yes, piracy is copying games, not stealing. You can't copy pc components or internet connections (or well there's wireless).
Also Internet is one of the few advantages that exist in 3rd world countries...because we get 100mb/s with no download limits at a very cheap 15$ / month. But that's it as far as advantages go.

Even though he was banned from this forum to the best of my knowledge, we urgently need the guy back who threw such a tantrum before Oblivion got released by writing zillions of "fuck" in each post of his. I don't recall his name, but he was hilarious.

I will tell You how I see this.
Example - Poland
Typical man here earn 1500-2000 of our currency(zl-"goldens"). Its considered really nice if person earns 3kmonthly
cigarettes cost 10-15
pepsi cost 5
console game cost 250 !!!
pc game is 100-150
Xbox360 or ps3 costs 1300
Iphone4 costs 3k (3000 WTF)
360 controller cost 250
gtx580 cost almost 2000
bluray movie is 100-150
used renault scenic year2000 cost 20k
diesel oil is just so fucking expensive here. It costs almost 6 for 1liter.... basicly refueling for 200 is worth maybe 2 weeks of driving to school/work
ohh and drivers license school costs 1500
30mbit internet down with 10up costs 60(this actually is really nice)
While I dont know if its true but in other countries like UK, people earn 1500-2000 and above punds but game cost50-60.... so if we get this 1:1 with poland, Imagine british or American game to cost 250 dollars/euro. Wonder how many people would buy it then
and above that. Monthly taxes for electricity, gas etc are aroung 800-1000 ..... soo after paying taxes, its not enough for food.
Offcourse that still doesnt say to go and pirate every thing possible. i have some original games and usually sell them afterwards
3080 | ps5 pro
Sin317-"im 31 years old and still surprised at how much shit comes out of my ass actually ..."
SteamDRM-"Call of Duty is the symbol of the true perfection in every aspect. Call of Duty games are like Mozart's/Beethoven's symphonies"
deadpoetic-"are you new to the cyberspace?"

Exactly. All these people who compare piracy to stealing or wanting to drive a ferrari (seriously??) wouldn't even think about buying a game if it would cost them 300E or more (to have a 1:1 ratio between our salaries and theirs).
But hey it's easy to flame others when you're living in a proper country and a game doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

This is the truth for many of us, me included. I live in Thailand and I earn the equivalent of about $1,100 a month. About half of this goes to repayment of the loan for my apartment, plus money for my own parents. I usually don't have much money left to add to my savings by the end of the month, but I can just about afford to shell out something like $100-150 a month on entertainment (games included).
That said, I don't pirate as many games as I did in the past though. Genuine ownership of things you love = warm feeling that's rather hard to replicate.

Are you saying stealing intellectual property is not the same as stealing physical property?
This is a pirate site. We all pirate from time to time, so embrace your inner thief.

now i feel guity... it's true guys the game costs way too much compared to salaries
i only wanted to say that if the guy already buys multiplayer games skyrim would be a worthy single player first buy.
plus you can install those patches right away
i just felt there was no need for the disclaimer "multiplayer buys only" as everyone here pirates something...

This! Depends on your taste too though. Can't deny that Elder Scrolls games are flawed in ways that piss off many, but they're like the holy grail in gaming for me.
