Look at Just Cause 2. A series of islands that literally would take you hours to drive across just a single island. That only weighs in at around 4GB. You could be killing dragons for the rest of your life if you had to gallop around on horses to places in that world map.

Just Cause 2 had little in the way of fully voiced quests, it was also pretty repetitive with assets and things to experience.
I would personally much prefer Skyrim to be 20GB than 6GB, though it doesn't guarantee the game will be worse as a 6GB game; it does mean some sacrifice must be made.
Of course it was the opposite in a game like Rage, where the textures were so stupidly huge that they had to be loaded in everytime you turned around.. and it wasn't to much immediate benefit either, I'd wager that Rage was released a bit too early and carmack expected too much. Would have probably been perfect on next generation consoles.
And then you have The Witcher 2, which is not re-using so many assets every step of the way. It was pretty large at 14GB, but looked and sounded brilliant the entire time.
If they put the next elder scrolls on a goddamn single DVD I will be nerd raging; I think they've struck a reasonable balance this time, but it couldn't hurt to have higher def textures for those of us with PCs.

So is the intkeys version multi or just russian? Any word on that?
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

I was looking for that kind of site, I think I prefer them to cjs cdkeys (mainly because I can use paypal with them). If you have any info regarding this (language/activation) please let me know.

Thanks for feedbacks.
Edit: Once activated, you can download and play from any region and in any language. Is this true? |
Given the current fiasco of MW3 on Intkeys, I wouldn't trust that statement as far as you could throw your computer into the wall in rage when you're playing in Russian.

Your points pretty much agree with my sentiment. That somehow equating the GB install size with how 'big' the world will be is just dumb. The install could be small but the world huge, or the install huge but the world relatively small. Or a big install could mean a big world. But there's no real way to know unless you actually PLAY the game. People who are raging over the 'small' install size and cancelling their pre-orders deserve to be shot into the sun so their stupid doesn't contaminate the gene pool

I read on some gaming forums that certain russian online key stores will release their keys today to let people preload. As soon as I get a confirmation, I'll grab one of those keys and check if I'll be able to choose the language.

It seems to be 'semi' resolved now. But for the past day they've been posting torrent links and other crazy ways to get your native language working with MW3. Part of my 'I buy stuff from Steam to AVOID bullshit like this' philosophy.

You'd be basically pre-loading the Russian version of the game. It's impossible to tell if you can actually choose another language until the game is released. When you choose the other language, Steam begins downloading the assets for that language.

GB does relate to unique content though, assuming it's not a catastrophic failure like rage. It is ultimately not something you should be cancelling your order over though hahah.. pretty obvious Skyrim isn't too lacking for content given the strategy guide is 655 pages long or something crazy!

In the pre-loaded files the text file in "\skyrim\Data\Interface" should be able to work as identification, here it's called translate_ENGLISH.txt
EDIT: Derp, could just check the localization files under \skyrim\Data\Strings

I will buy Elder Scrolls 6.
I used to be a knee like you. Then I took an adventurer in the arrow.

Gonna love the game, but i'm in no position to spend money on singleplayer experiences. |
i heard this before.
"i'm sorry i only buy multiplayer games"
but in fact i think it reads either
"i'm sorry i HAVE TO pay for multiplayer games"
or
"i'm sorry i don't have money to buy singleplayer games"
but remember man, not having money is not something you should ALWAYS be ashamed of.
right ?
er.. or then again maybe not.
i dunno =]
