That's not to say that this is in fact the one thing that blows this wide open. Now we just need someone who's not an attention whore to pick it up Smile

Yeah here's his explanation and another one of his "goodbye forever ungrateful scene" talks.

Mega shitstorm incoming. "Don't bite the hand that feeds you" -- oh fuck off, you arrogant slime. If you hadn't purposely stalled the scene so as to protect your piracy tendencies, none of this would have happened. You were quite alright stealing other people's work, illegally reverse engineering products for your own use, but when someone leaks something you had NO INTENTION of sharing with others, you start whining. Pathetic.

This is why I dropped out and stopped giving a shit about the scene. I talk to barely a handful of people, whom I trust implicitly, but other than that; I don't really care any longer. I'll buy the PSJB2 dongle because - unlike the egotistical fakers - they're actually producing results without the drama.

I don't understand, surely this is good news and a possibility of a more up to date CFW?

Scene drama, of course. Math is throwing a paddy on any site/network that will listen. It's ok for him to pirate, just not for others. It's ok for him to steal other people's work, just as long as it's for him and him alone. Biggest fucking hypocrite in the scene, I don't care if he's talented.

Oh, the usual then. With the drama going for over a year now it's hard to get excited about any new thing that's released on the"scene". Therefore i won't get overhyped because of this and just wait it out. It's probably gonna be a dead end anyway... sabotaged by the elitist devs like math or something...

Don't bank on it, my man. This is only the very start and like I already said; the ones talented enough to take the ball and run with it, wont. They won't because they already knew it existed and they kept it secret.

How is the patching situation with hacked games? Is it better to put the games on the internal HDD or does it make no difference? The PS3 I got is 60Gb and not 40GB Very Happy

Heavy Rain... Yes it was Smile But if I remember correctly, it won't run without a BR disc in drive. It's a mightily cool game though. Couldn't tear myself off the screen for a good 15 hours (or more) after I got it.

The patching situation is simple; don't do it. Or at least, do it and be prepared to delete gamedata and start over. Sony are signing patches with 3.6+ keys now, which means even if your ancient game only requires 3.21 to run... game updates will bump that and make them require 3.6 and above. If you get the update prompt, run it and see - you may get lucky about that particular game. I can confirm for a fact that Killzone 2 and Gran Turismo 5 are now 3.6 updates. Along with many others.

If you do update and the game no longer works, telling you that you need to update your FW (or if you're using a spoof of 3.7x the game will just error instead) simply go to XMB>GameData and delete the gamedata for that particular game. You'll most likely have to reinstall the game when you try to run it again, but at least you can play.

Internal vs External? Internal is magnitudes faster and has no limitations on individual filesize. The downside is overall drive size (1TB max with the new Samsung drives) and the fact that you can't just plug it into your PC to transfer games. Everything has to be done via FTP and file manager.

@Aquma

Yeah, Heavy Rain is fucking ace Very Happy That was THE game I bought my PS3 for and I wasn't disappointed.

I found a guide with a nifty tool which creates a pkg file that links the boot to the HDD instead of the BDVD by editing the EBOOT. I haven't used it yet though, but people seem to say it works.

Yeup, you can turn the vast majority of BD games into pseudo PSN packages, which are basically the same but rather than loading via manager, you launch them off the XMB like you do PSN games. It's clunky but works. I don't use it because it's TOO clunky for me, I like to keep my games tidy - and still possible to update them without having to go through the PSN package kerfuffle again.

What do you mean with clunky? Do you mean it's too much hassle/file clutter, or will I get problems ingame?
Why don't all games require a BDVD in the drive? Some releases are reported to work fine without any tinkering with EBOOT. Fuck up by Sony?

You shouldn't get any problems in game, but it's a hassle to perform (and it means random files spread across the HDD that I don't like either) As for why some games work without a disk? You'd be best off asking someone like cyclone, as they understand the technicalities behind it better than I do. It's most likely down to the way specific games treat streaming data .. and the hardcoded paths looking for BDR.

So can we assume that the talented ones have already have made a cfw for 3.72?

It's either fake, so we won't get anything, or real and he won't release it.
We could hope that someone leaks the method/keys, but who knows how long this will take.

It most likely means his mum took his lego away, so he needs an ego boost and to know someone loves him still.
