It shouldn't be "hot" among "verbatim fanboys" because it's already well known that those discs are good and are for those who do not wish to experiment with other media. It's supposed to be a way to prove that other media is just as good while being cheaper. It's a different thing that people simply can't stop posting Verb results over and over and over again. etc ...
Well that's not the same what you said before but now i do agree with you on most points. With other brands you might get the same results and that´s just what i was trying to say. Well I am getting the same results. I agree that verbatims are the best choice but like ienni said: we want acceptable results for a reasonable price and i know that even with verbatims you don't get the same results all the time like you said. I don't hate verbatim, but i don't like when people talk for other people especially when they ain't right imo.

I bought an iHAS624, flashed it and sent my console away for the LT+ 2.0 flash.
I tried my first XGD3 (GOW3) some days ago and it works fine.
It failed the first installation attempt but the second and third time worked.
So, the burner has to be a iHAS124-19 B. right? Goddamn how do I know if it's a B.. On the sites I've been looking to purchase, it only says 124-19, but people who bought from this one place said it was the B-version, but they are out of stock.. how to tell if the other places are the B aswell :/

The wrong chipset (A or Y) are mostly found in (very) old stock. So the only chance of getting the wrong chipset is when the retailer is keeping old stock, which isn't likely because (at least in my country) these drives sell like hot cakes all the time.
So...I managed to fry my Liteon dvd drive today with the POS Connectivity Kit V3 Lite which burned out whilst I was using it taking the DVD drive with it Put it back into the 360 and it won't eject and smells acrid inside.
To replace the DVD drive is it as simple as buying the exact same model (Lite-On DG-16D2S (HW: A0A1 FW: 74850C August 2008) then using Jungleflasher to flash it with the key from the old dvd drive (that fortunately I have extracted already)
Is it still possible to use a different model dvd drive and clone it to be the correct one?
Luckily you managed to grab the key, because yes; as long as it's the same make/model and you flash the old key - it works. I don't believe drive crossover/spoofing works any more, as of LT2.0, but I'm not 100% sure. There are plenty of guides online to help if you need it, though it sounds like you don't
Yeah I've been flashing it for a while now so always had the key (I have 2 probes spare now I don't need with having the key!), so I guess I buy a new DVD drive then, not too bad I guess as it's around £30 from the UK (maybe I can find a comparable price in Sweden), presumably for connecting power it's still a case of an Executor connectivity kit or some kind of molex power supply (for 3 times the price!)?

I initially nuked my Liteon with a CK3 too. a bit of resolding over the resistors got eject working so i put it back together and left it as is, seems to work fine.
Just to the left of the probe point is a resistor that handles the eject signal line, you probably shorted that like i did with the probe.
Good news though: on ebay a seller had some xbox pro's £45 free delivery (no cables or controllers) so i grabbed one of those, and it came with a BENQ drive.
Instant flash with jungleflasher and i'm good, works on LIVE too.
I burned my games on a sony-optiarc drive which is in my laptop: Skyrim/MOW3/GOW3 using IMGBurn - @ max speed (2.4x) and they work great.
I'm using some cheap verbatim which i bought from Maplin (UK). 25x Discs for £19.99
I'll try using some even cheaper discs when they arrive from amazon.
