I'm still on my rooted stock SGS2 ROM. I heard that some like cyanogen and others recommended miui. Tell me and the humpers why you like your ROM Smile

I will probably get flame for that but I hate CM rom..I think it's the worst rom out there and total crap.

I like Eaglesblood but I think its only for LG G2x.
I also like Faux AOSP based room but since noob hackers decided to bring whole repo down, there have not been any updates for almost 2 months :/ and his kernels are awesome

Also used miui in the past. Pretty cool looking room. Might try it again in near future.

Doesn't stock SGS2 rom comes with TouchWiz?

Been on cyanogenmod with my desire hd since ages, but never really messed around with miui or any others. I do have a custom kernel on it though and some undervolting going on, can reach about 50hrs of battery life with that, pretty outstanding when you consider that the standard sense from htc gave me just about 24 hours.

You should try them and see what fits you best. I've tried a couple different roms but I always go back to CM7.

Cyanogen hasn't been the best since 7 RC1 hit. They keep breaking shit and it's ran like absolute crap for me. Another reeallly good one to try out is Ultimate Droid, that was my personal favorite for the longest time.

For me i like MIUI the best. There you see what a custom rom really should be. I like the new menus, graphics used and themes you can download directly with their app.
I also highly recommend this german modified version for you: http://www.android-hilfe.de/custom-roms-fuer-samsung-galaxy-s2/150753-rom-miui-sgs2-1-10-21-german-xx-kernel.html
Use it too and it runs super stable.
Kept using some other custom roms before MIUI, but i didnt had the feel of using a "custom" rom. As it was mostly just stock rom with another color used lol. At least it felt so for me.

Thanks, I'll take a look.from what I get, CM is not the most preferred one? Can I assume that it its basically just the naked android ROM, compatible with a shit load of devices?

And how is hardware compatibility with miui ?GPS, Bluetooth, cam etc working fine?

Never had any problems with CM - that might very well be because I've got a Desire, which just is/was immensely popular. I like CM because it comes with 0 bullshit.

I hope Google hurry the fuck up and get AOSP 4.0 out Very Happy

Android Open Source Project

Basically it's just Android, without any drivers or third party shit. That's what most decent ROMs are based off; with drivers taken from "live" ROMs for each device.

Smug

Edit @ Pumpy: CM is based off AOSP, but like I said AOSP has no drivers. So CM is AOSP with some tweaks and then built for each device with the appropriate drivers. AOSP itself is not usable unless you want to recompile it and the drivers for your phone from scratch Wink
AOSP is not a ROM, it's just Android. CM is a ROM Wink

who knows...did you try looking for answer at xda?

Maybe market is installed as user app and NOT system app? Try moving it as system app in titanium backup??

OR
go to manage applications and then clear market cache/data

Did you ever use titanium backup to backup any apps? before installing new rom? makes sure that you WIPE WIPE WIPE system/cache/dalvik cache and if you use titanium backup to restore apps, just make sure to restore user apps only NOT system apps because miui runs 2.3.7...

Well great Laughing

BTW, after flashing miui CWM is gone. How do I flash a new kernel without fucking up the miui? Just going to download mode and flashing with odin again?

Dont update via the built in updater. It won't download the german version of MIUI. If at all, it will download some other version of MIUI. Thats probably why your rom installation is fucked up.
