FUS RO DAH!!
(speaking of which; dragon shouts -- how do they work? Recharge timer? Daily limit?) |
No limits on them, theres a cooldown timer at first it's 15 secs before you can 'shout' again.

You are limited by the shouts you find in the world, not that many will be found during the mainquest, most are from sidequests or random exploration. And then you actually need the dragon souls to 'activate them' and taking on a dragon is actually quite hard, atleast it is for me as a mage, takes a lot of potions. Of course now I've found some better spells giving me boosts to armor etc, so maybe the next one will be easier.

How often do you encounter these dragons? If I remember correctly they said it's dynamic and not scripted.

There are scripted encounters and one of these is especially interesting
But yes they will also come at you when you're just running around being an idiot.

As decent as new vegas, same features and optimizations, so if new vegas looked good for you, skyrim will as well.
I haven't compared console and pc version yet, but the textures seem to be of higher resolution concerning landscapes and architecture. | Could you elaborate a bit on how well the game is optimised, please? I know it is some shoddy console port and therefore even older PCs should cope with it just fine but I have a CrossFire system and it's rather dodgy when it comes to new games... You know Rage, BF3, etc etc I have had problems with all those games. I don't want to be waiting for patches, CAPs, hot fixes and new drivers again. Is Skyrim, in any way, related to nVidia in the first place? According to nV's website it's not but I'm not convinced... If the game starts with the bloody TWIMTBP logo then that's it I go green... I've been waiting for this game ever since the first trailer came out and I really don't want to mess about with drivers and other stuff in order to make it run ok. Does the game support CF/SLi at all?
Thank you

Is it easy to multiclass? I've seen that you only get acess to certain percs depending on the class you choose. That means the game really pushes you into one class, whereas other elderscrolls Games really let you make your own class as freely as possible.

This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Don't know about crossfire or sli, I'm playing with a 6950 on the 11.10 catalyst. It sometimes crashes to desktop, once every other hour or so for no good reason and it will crash if you alt-tab as well.
The launcher has some problems with detecting the right settings so I had to customize mine or I would be stuck on high preset at 1280x800 resolution.

But you aren't playing final build, are you? There's a chance the crashes will be fixed in final build or in day 1 patch.

Thats very true. It autosaves every 15 minutes or so though, so I haven't really lost any progress as such due to crash.

What about FPS on your system? Do you get at least 40+ fps?

That together with recorded video I won't do, the person who has been kind enough to provide me with this build knows of this board. And has explicitly told me not to do either of that before the 11.11.11 date. I do have quite a few nice shots which I can make available on that date though.
It is not due to me being a moderator here that I got access to this, but due to my job
EDIT:
ON FPS, I'm averaging 56-60, I do have vsync on so thats why it won't go higher. I dislike tearing.

Nice info Epslion, thx a lot. The fact that you don't complain at technical stuff AND at the same you're time playing June build is a good sigh that it will not be technical piece of crap.

Are there... graphical settings to fiddle with? Texture quality settings, anti aliasing, SSAO, etc?

No SSAO. Theres anti aliasing, transparency multisampling, depth of field, anisotropic filtering, bloom, hdr and some other standard stuff. Textures come in Low, Medium and High. I have them at high.
