Theres a lot to build upon for modders, one of the first would be adding a proper interface and keyboard shortcuts.
After that a mod that would require you to eat, drink and sleep at certain intervals.
Then it would be quite an immersive game, as it is right now, having to constantly open one menu, then another and another just to change a spell removes you from the experience - especially in the middle of combat.
It's very rare that I see such a horrible UI in a game.
Theres a fair amount of streamlining in the game, but theres also more believable lore and the whole dragonborn thing is actually explained pretty well.
Cities and their inhabitants make a lot more sense now, I'm sure that the developers have given Gothic 1+2 more than a fleeting glance. |
Good, That's exactly what I was hoping for. Most of the flaws that you mentioned should be fixed quite easily by the community.

Er? the consoles that it's released for are 5 years old? or based on that old of a design.
As the developers themselves said, pc make up 10% of their sales, why would it be more than a simple port?

The fact that the game is pure for consoles.
But even so IF that is the fact, you will even need a more powerfull pc then when it would be if it was developed for pc mainly, because from console -> pc = really bad optimization.
So either way my saying is still valid.
@Epsilon
EA/Dice made huge numbers from console sales, still their BF3 was focused on PC dev.
Hope others follow this (we can all still dream )

That's not a fucking option. |
This, i didn't invest into a good pc to run a game not maxed out. Simple.

By the way did anyone actually enjoy NV's hardcore mode? I loved the idea of it, but its execution was a little lacking. I don't find clicking on an item in your inventory once in a while all that immersive, especially considering the fact that finding food and water was very easy.
Now if Skyrim had Gothic-like cooking with the process itself being properly animated and a portable sleeping bag...

I wonder if having only 512 ram on the fuxing xbox limits the game designers in a meaningful way. I imagine it does.

Yeah I think the greater needs mod took it to where it needed to go, though I didn't really play with it as I'd sorta dropped playing.
But yeah, to me a game like this is about survival, having to worry about a basic need can really put you inside the game.

It was already apparent with Oblivion, every house/city you entered -> loading screen. But that's a common sight in most console games.

Hardcore mode was absolutely essential for gameplay balance reasons. If you didn't have hardcore mode, stimpacks healed instantly. You could never really die as long as you had stimpacks to spam, which were easy to come by. It was god-mode as long as you pressed a button every now and then.

Yeah hardcore mode in NV was like a normal mode, would have been shit without it. Did you try Rage? Nightmare mode was like easy mode. It was really pathetic.
When I see hardcore mode or nightmare mode I tend to expect it just to be an "I'm not drunk on my couch playing xbox" mode.

Thx!
Inventory is horrible. Now one can see even LESS items on screen than in Oblivion.

Yeah I know, that's why I never turned hc mode off) I was talking only about its eating, drinking and sleeping aspects.

Watching the stream. And the fights. And I've a strong feeling that something is missing. All those camera angles and that slow motion reminds me of something...
Oh, I know! They forgot to implement VATS!

Project Nevada improved on it somewhat, tho it wasn't the sole focus of the mod. And other mods out there as well that increased the needs, but of course that doesn't remove the fact that it was mostly just clicking away in various menus. Gothic style world interaction would've gone a long way in adding that extra immersion.

You're "lacking" in the gfx card department?! I got a 2600XT, if you want to get rid of one of those cards you know where to send it. |
still got x1950 pro here, dual HD3870 Toxic, single HD4890 Vapor-x and these 2. Older ones did seem to vanish
