Excuse me for being a lazy prick, I have no energy to unleash my google powers. How easy is the Xbox 360 Slim 250GB to hack? I don't care about Live (though it would be nice to keep it). Is there any possibility MS will lower the prices in the next 2-3 months? It costs 220 fucking euros over here
From what I understand, the worst thing it can happen is me being banned and never being able to sign on LIVE again from this console. Is that correct? It will still work just fine offline, right?
Also, how long does it normally take to get banned? I wonder if I can play a few games before that happens...
Yeah, offline will still work. As for how long it takes to get banned varies completely. Normally there is a generic banwave every October/November but then again, you might just get unlucky and it be a one off. I went 2 years on 1 machine without a ban and then about 6 weeks on another.
Thank you. I tried to play online with Dark Souls, but it asked me to update the game. Are those updates safe? Cause in the PS3 they normally mean that you will loose your unlock.

if you are going to hack an hdd then you just as wel do the largest one 320 gb.. as far as I know you need an scropian blue 2.5 drive and then you just download hdd hacker and the 320 gb bin and then you need to flash it with HDDhacker to that hd. should be easy.
gomez83, game updates (title update) are different from dashboard updates. And yes, they're safe.
Mister_s, if you were to get a x360 slime the only hack you should do is the RGH, witch, depending on your soldering skills, can be pretty easy or pretty hard.
As for the DVD fw mod on the slims, not sure, it really depends on the model you get. Some require more work than other while some can't be modified at all - like the latest models, those are RGH proof as well.
Question. Is there any way that MS can make Xk3y or the clones unusable through some sort of update? Forced flash etc? From what I understand they cannot. then I think I'll buy one. getting tired of burning games, and especially reburning if there are new AP protections...

Found someone who lives near me who will glitch my box for around £50, once all the parts are in (inc. quick soldier board). Only uses Team-X parts which is fine by me.
I cannot JTAG so think this is my only option right now. Still need to weigh up if £50 is worth it on a 5 year old console. How many more games will there be that I want to play and have to buy?

Probably a few...
5 years old, then is it a Falcon? depending on how much you have used it, alot of this age falcons have been or are ready for a reflow. if it's seen little or moderate use then £50 is definitely worth it.
What is a reflow? It's not been used much. It's a noisy falcon yes.
The early xbox's have issues with the solder cracking on the gpu's and cpu's mostly due to overheating. a Reflow is where the solder is heated up via infra red causing it to melt and make connection again. rough analogy
So when you hear of the RROD it is usualy caused by this problem of the contacts between mobo and chip breaking and cracking, a xclamp fix which people do, is usually a very temporary fix as this just pulls the chip down onto the mobo in an attempt to fix the problem.
Reflow is much more reliable, i have a falcon jtag with a reflow and is going strong still. usually £25 - £35 reflow with 3 months warranty
Ah yes, well I guess I wouldn't need to go down that route unless I start getting RROD - but yeh I bet the xclamp / reflow would be perfect if I ever do get issues!

no you can burn them onto other media, verbatim is the only ones that consistantly overburn well. ive used traxdata s04-66 discs burnt at 2.4x and they work ok (install and verify ok)

Dont think anyone can answer that at the moment. Its in testing apparently. I wouldnt think it will take too long but maybe if the testing doesnt go well, we could be waiting longer ... ?
