Comments were as followers (We're mega excited for this game like I was)
"Wtf is that big ball of light doing floating there" < server issue? happened more than once
"Blow something up!" "Wtf it doesnt blow up like BC2?" < How lame....
"its randomly rubberbanding / lagging" could be connection but servers just cant keep up with big matches in my opinion
"the sea looks fucking awful!" << Yup
But they all agreed it was running very smooth on my PC.
I hate how they give a shit excuse about multiplayer games not wanting to have destruction like BC2 coz it would just be a levelled map. Sounds like bullshit excuse to me.
I also am not 100% convinced that the game will ever have the fluid crazy sensation you get with BC2. Okay the graphics are amazing, there are some nice new mechanics here and there but this is definately not what I was hoping for... I've seriously been tempted to play some BC2.
Can you guys (fanboys etc) SERIOusLY say that this game has impressed you as much as you thought it would? |
i find the destruction in bf3 way better than in bc2 ..
bc2 didnt have destruction, it had scripted change of states lol
generic 2 story building state 1 , if x amounts of prescripted walls have been removed by ANY means (hand grenades, really ?) ,
change to generic collapsed building state ..
Btw a LOT of the stuff in BF3 you can blow up, but THANK DICE you cannot destroy big buildings ....
imagine you could blow up the hallways in bazaar etc. the big ass mining tunnel while we are at it ... etc etc.
Some stuff just cant be blown up and there is a good reason for it.

Well, technical issues aside, yeah, I'm loving it... much more than BC2. I'm not saying the game is perfect. They fucked up with some of the Conquest 64 versions (Seine Crossing, Operation Metro come to mind) but the game packs enough punch to make up for it. After a few patches the game will be a jewel. And of course looking forward to Back to karkand!

i think the only reason i liked bc2 when it came back out, was in spite of mw2 lol ... (ded server etc etc).
Looking at it now, bc2 was the poorest of all the battlefield games or spinoffs (which it is).

Personally i´ve had no issues whatsoever sofar, which i´m a bit surprised by but have yet to sink my teeth into the MP part heh
Now if Dice just do commit to fixing/expanding on what they got it can turn out to have what it needs to keep me busy for a long time to come.

Wow I'm pretty shocked at the comments regarding destruction! Maybe I'm really imagining how bc2 is then.
I haven't leveled any building in this yet. Small shed like things which are held up by metal pieces of metal, i've fired 2 or 3 tank shells at em and nothing has happened. small buildings, fired a massive tank round at one, explodes and then the wall is still there, no dmg marks nothing.
Explosions in the ground, like taking out a huge tank, leaves a black crappy texture on the ground, bc2 used to leave big holes didnt it? or am i imagining.
When I've destroyed walls and stuff during MP I've noticed massive chunks burst out but they happen like with delay, its not Bang woooah shit look at those pieces fly, its like the servers are just not coping or my connection is lagging like a cunt.
I get 40-60 ping to the servers stable when doing ping tests so its not like my connection is bad, but everything during online matches just seems like its got a 250 or 500ms delay. Like the server needs to register that there was the hit, then compute the explosion then send it back out. But its a noticable delay.
BC2 was so quick to send all this back the immersion was there.
With this there is a lot of shit going on online which just seems broken to be honest.
I fired a rocket launcher, the one that locks on and took out a chopper. It said vehicle disabled awesome... then watched the helicopter with its rotors OFF fall to the ground like it was a feather, super slow like it was with a parachute or something...
Come on, this stuff just makes it all seem really daft....
INFANTRY combat, now that is nice.... quick crazy and fun like it used to be. Apart from the fact I never seem to kill anyone, christ I wasn't an alien player in BC2 but I could hold my own, with this the recoils and stuff just seem soooo much different from alpha beta bc2 etc that its fricking impossible to take people down when they are moving.
I recall being able to down people on the move so much easier before.
YET on their end, they'll pop me from silly distances easily with an m16 or something.
Maybe im low level, maybe without the scopes, maybe my connection is having issues but it just seems like this game needs a FUCK TONNE of work still to be anywhere NEAR BF2 or BC2 online playability.
You can sprinkle sugar all over it, but this release needs work and fast. I need to play with mouse sensitivity more i guess as its far to sensitive at present as opposed to other games, and maybe my machine is getting a really nice fps but crossfire is having some sort of weird affect on hit detection or something, being frames ahead or out of sync or something with the server...
I'm firing off impressions and ideas and not meaning to start a war and get flamed, but I've been left with a real sour taste in my mouth, kinda like if werelds was to teabag you or something.
The only thing I can TOTALLY 100% commend is the sound. Decent headset and running around, this game blows me away with its sounds.

A tri-core processor is a huge bottleneck in MP. 30-60 fps on caspian border, cpu is holding back the gpu a lot. But it's playable.

I think this game has a very short lifespan with the current maps. Let's hope they don't completely butcher the B2K maps.
Also i think it is the strategy of EA. Release the game with crappy maps, and start rolling out paid DLC mappacks after you release the first "free" pack.

Had a load of mates playing yesterday who managed like 50 deaths and ZERO kills. But to be honest I'm not fussed at all anymore about my stats in BF3 as i was in BC2.... I'm seriously not convinced I'll be hanging around to play this much as of yet.
Something when playing MP just doesnt feel right for me. Not sure if its FPS / Mouse movement but I'm just way way off with my usual fps ability... WAY OFF.
I'll change something or they'll patch or something and it'll click, but atm I'm just sucking so bad when I bother to play.

It´s diffrent you just need to get used to it, i love it as i hated BC2 and for me it was just a filler until this released.
Ouch that sucks man on origin mine works fine, what region is yours set to?

Yeh maybe its just adjusting. As support I used to be able down people so easily now its a lot more difficult. Unless I mount that fucker on somewhere which is always hit and miss for some reason its nigh impossible to kill someone.
I'll usually unload a clip slowly into someone trying to balance the recoil then they'll realise where its coming from, turn round and two shot me.

Support in this game owns when you get to terms with it, but you need to leave BC2 mindset behind otherwise you will get super owned by us vets heh
