That's the internet forum equivalent of dropping the soap in a prison shower - someone is bound to bust your ass for it.

Only 6 GB HDD? Thats disturbing Sad

What's disturbing? Morrowind was 980MB uncompressed. Oblivion was 3.24GB, basically you're looking at double texture, voice, and mesh count. And if you still have a problem with it. Give it 3 weeks and someone like Quarl or Mik will release 2056x2056 textures.

The joy's of PC gaming and the ability to mod.

vurt: jump/climb hotspots? Are you serious? Care to provide me with a link to the source of this information? Climbing was cool when you went exploring in Gothic 1&2. Also made pelting your enemies with a bow SO much easier. Very Happy

In fact this was a misunderstanding, i just got a reply from doberlec (Deep Silver) that you can jump anywhere and you can also climb. The Pet monkey which you can use to steal stuff sounds pretty cool too Smile

Cool. Now I doubt I could run Risen 2 on my 2600XT, but I hope Skyrim will.

Also: very cool idea about the monkey. Now we'll have a minion to do our dirty work for us. >Very Happy Climbing is pretty similar to the original Gothic series.

Official specs were just announced =)

http://whatculture.com/gaming/skyrim-pc-requirements-announced.php
http://www.bethblog.com/index.php/2011/10/25/skyrim-system-requirements-announced/

Quote:

Minimum Hardware Requirements:

OS: Win XP/7/Vista (32 or 64 bit)
CPU: Dual Core
RAM: 2GB
GPU: DX9c video card w/ 512MB RAM
Internet Access for Steam activation
Recommended Hardware Requirements:

OS: Win XP/7
CPU: Quad-Core Intel/AMD CPU
RAM: 4GB
GPU: DX9 vid card w/ 1 GB. GTX 260/Radeon 4890 or higher
Internet Access for Steam activation

And from Pete Hines;

Quote:

“The Min specs get you playing. The recommended specs let you play on High, not on Ultra. You’ll want beefier rig for that.”

Quite low, to be honest. Even the required specs look incredibly decent. I presume, a card within the HD6000/GTX400 range will more than enough suffice for Hyper settings.

Aye, I agree. Those do look rather low and a 4890 for "High"? Sounds good to me!

Well since Skyrim is using Steamworks, it makes sense that it would require Steam =)

I posted them yesterday Razz (but these are better since they don't contain typos from teh crappy Twitter Laughing)

He also said this:
Quote:
DCDeacon Pete Hines@@bjohnblazkowicz We put tons of effort into PCs: we support PC mods like nobody's business, support our mod fans, and put out great PC games

translation: "we put a lot of efforts into supporting mods so they can fix our broken games on PC" Cool Face Laughing

Well shit, if that's still their stance then fair play! We all know and expect Bethesda games to be buggy and missing tons of stuff... but as long as they KEEP supporting their modders, then that's fine by me =)

Pete Hines explains why the game is only 6GB;

http://twitter.com/#!/DCDeacon/status/129252912584073218

Quote:

6 gigs: New engine & we’re much better at compression (art/voice/data). It’s huge yet more optimized than we’ve had before. And faster.

Seems a lot of people really are pissing in their panties about Skyrim being "only" 6GB. Funny, because if it was 20GB, the same people would be whining it's TOO big.

I can't think of a single reason the game should be over 6GB. Do they think GB automatically = content/graphexx?

Yeah, I really don't get these complaints..as long as there will be Quarl and NMC with their awesome (and huge) texture packs I don't see the problem Smile
