Does anybody here like the the Post Processing antialiasing? Everything looks great on Ultra except for that one setting. It makes everything seem blurry. IMO the game looks much better (extremely sharp) with post processing antialiasing on Low

Welcome to PPAA, its most two common forms being FXAA and MLAA these days, with FXAA being used in this game. Don't let some people hear it though, according to them PPAA doesn't apply vaseline at all!

sausje wrote:
If you don't like playing without AA and don't want performance hit with it, just use the FXAA injection Wink

Why use the injection when the in-game PPAA is already FXAA ? Neutral

Normal AA (Or deferred AA as it's called in this game.) only seems to handle some of the surfaces whereas PostAA covers the rest (Or well everything but it's even better with MSAA as well.)

I suppose it's down to user preference but 4x or 2x MSAA with low PostAA might work quite well, I have everything as high as possible but maybe it would be useful to compare them to see what the different settings of PostAA actually do. Razz

Tone the PPAA down JB. You're right that their deferred MSAA algorithm can't do *everything*, but the PPAA in this game (as is inherent to the algorithms) does it on *everything*, even on stuff you don't want it on. Maybe I'm just overly sensitive to it, but I still can't stand the vaseline effect. Makes no difference whether it's in-game or forced, in most games the vaseline effect destroys the game for me; there are only a few games where I can stand it, and those are all dark games with pretty static environments (which is when the algorithms work best).

FXAA and MLAA does have that downside but though I am no expert I imagine most any post-process effect will have similar limitations.

SRAA and SMAA both used Battlefield 3 as a example so I had hoped they would have used one of those algorithms since they are superior but the console commands and game exe specifically refer to FXAA.

I'll do a better comparison next time I'm playing, missed the beta (Never got a key sent.) so this is all new to me, 2D elements and other effects aren't as problematic when aliased and I believe that's most of what this game uses post-process AA for.
(Still digging trough the console commands and exe but there's only a handful of commands that work in-game, ideally toggling this via the console is possible in order to get a really good comparison.)

EDIT: Don't think I've seen a bloom option, settings file doesn't show anything like that and I believe enlighten is a different effect.

Oops, I meant V-sync when I meant I had tried it on/off. Not forcing it anywhere else. Haven't tried with SLi off.

If you look at my specs you'll notice something similar Anyways, press the GX button off, it's enabled as default.

Still don't have my retail, but had same soundloops on beta, that fixed them. Another thing is BC2 would crash with the sound loop on every driver except the first one. If you have DG too, that would be PCI-DG-100816-7.12.8.1790(W7-RC-05).

Yeah, but for me it happens on more or less every level (though I can't remember if it happened on the first Jet mission?).

Actually, it happend for me the mission after the jet mission aswell (that was after the post i made).

The jet mission itself i wouldn't know, as i was frapsing at 30 fps, so my fps was already locked into lower one.

Stuttering performance issues when getting awesome fps generally seem to just be shitty drivers.

I was running AMD 11.10 V3 drivers with the CAP3 which ati had stated you should install for decent cf performance and was getting a whole load of shitty stuttering. SP and MP.

Removed the CAP3s and left just the 11.10 V3 and its much much more playable now with very little stuttering. They'll get these issues fixed with driver updates but kinda makes me angry how these huge releases get pushed out and drivers are still shoddy pieces of shit.

Also another LOL moment, changed ONE key binding last night in game, fuck i thought I didnt want to change that, I'll just hit the revert settings button. Wrong it reverted every setting in the fucking game.

What ringpiece during all the fucking hours of QA testing (really??) didnt think that people might want to just RESET THEIR CONTROL BINDINGS... not the entire fucking game config..

Oh man I laughed after I raged.. Sad
