Can anyone shed some info on this, pleaaase?

I downloaded the Reloaded release last night, since my key from BuyGameCDKeys hasn't arrived yet (and now it's release day, and where's my key?), just to see how my PC handled the game.

I set all the settings that can be set to Ultra to that, and then 2xAA and even Medium on the Post AA. Also, I first used HBAO but stepped down to SSAO after experiencing what I'm asking about (though it still happened):

It runs smooth for most of the time, I rarely drop below 50 FPS - but when moving through levels, I get drops to 20-something, sometimes even lower (and, rarely, it'll drop to like 10), but it's only for half a second at a time. Hell, one time it even dropped to 1-2 for 3 seconds. Then, still when doing the same thing/scene (so I know it's not only because there's a lot of things happening) it'll run smoothly. It can even happen when there's not a lot going on onscreen.

Like it's trying to load textures from a CD/DVD with a slow reader, kind of. Am I explaining myself well enough here? Razz Afterburner shows that my GPUs never go above about 75% usage, and the temps confirm that aren't getting pushed to the max by quite a margin.

My specs are
Core i5 @ 4Ghz
2xGTX 460 1GB SLi, OC'd (Core at 850mhz etc, can't remember the values right now)
4GB 1600Mhz RAM
Game installed to a S-ATA 7200 RPM disk with about 90 gigs free.

It's super annoying Sad

Perhaps texture trashing over the memory interface. Remember, not only must textures move from disk to RAM, then from RAM to VRAM, it has to be duplicated on both 460 cards.

Tried running without SLI?

I have the same thing happening. It plays smooth, and suddenly it's reading from the HDD (swapping?) and the game drops to 1-2 frames for 2-4 seconds then resumes normally. It's happening like 1 time per level.

Totally agree with you. I'm playing with everything on Ultra but manually changed two settings:

MSAA: i set it to 2x instead of 4x, makes a big difference with the fps and really small difference in quality.

Post AA: I set it to medium and it's good enough to skip most of the blurring. I tried both low and medium I thought the latter was the best compromise between hiding jaggies and not blurring the scene.

With the aforementioned settings I'm getting 50-60fps in MP most of the time. I may ocassionally dip to the low 40s in the most gfx intensive sequences.

Problem for me is that it's happens a few times each level (some are worse than others), and it's very irritating Sad Some people said that the latest nVidia "BF3 optimized"-drivers gave them worse performance.. maybe I should try older ones..

Also, I read a bit back (but there are so many replies!), and didn't get an answer - have keys been sent out from BuyGameCDKeys?

1000-series/2000-series - are they talking about the order number? I have 3xxx :/

Also, I have ordered the LE, of course!

Edit: OH, I thought their post about being on the 2000-orders were older, but that was just an hour ago. So it shouldn't be long now Smile

i have a similiar problem like that in beta, when i disabled all sound blaster enhancements did the job & i played the beta without any issue after that..
soo, try disabling audio enchancements of that sound card, that might work for you too..

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

Welcome to PPAA, its most two common forms being FXAA and MLAA these days, with FXAA being used in this game. Don't let some people hear it though, according to them PPAA doesn't apply vaseline at all!

sausje wrote:
If you don't like playing without AA and don't want performance hit with it, just use the FXAA injection Wink

Why use the injection when the in-game PPAA is already FXAA ? Neutral

Disable all integretated sound cards and buy a new one without realteak audio chip. this was the only way i got it working.

u have to disable all onboard soundcards with the realteak audio

@ _SiN_: First guess would be SLI mate. Obviously I'm lying when I say this, but NVIDIA's drivers do still have issues and especially with BF3 they've had much more issues than AMD has so try disabling it. Your FPS will drastically lower of course, but you should still be able to notice the slowdowns, if any.

What do you have VSync set to?
