at mo i have 4.3.3 untethered on my ip4... really want untethered for ios5 so then i can update to it.
i read somewhere that there will be no untethered jailbreak until early nov... dunno how true this is though.
PS... my partner installed ios5 on her iphone4... but cant get the latest facebook to run.. it just hangs at the loading screen. Anyone else have this or is it a bug?

Speaking of the Facebook app but on IOS4, mine just keeps appearing to auto refresh itself after 5 seconds! Never seen it before but it's fucking annoying when Im trying to read something on there!

Mine did that sometimes here and there. I would just kill the task and that seemed to get it going sometimes. Pretty annoying though!
It's done it to me on iOS5 as well. Only once so far though. |

anyone who has ios5 final.. can you please check what you have in brackets next to the version in about.
settings, general, about, version... should be 5.0 (*****) .... what do you have in the bracket please?
My partners is 5.0( 9a334) im wondering if she has the GM on and this is why facebook dont work... or is the GM the same as the final version?

IOS5 just got a "semitethered" Jailbreak update =) I can't link to the site, but you can find the full details on the news page of Sinfuliphone.

Just a few minutes ago BigBoss released Semitethered Jailbreak, a new Cydia package that lets you reboot your iOS 5 jailbroken iPhone at will while away from your computer!
It’s not without it’s caveats, but it’s a whole lot better than a normal tethered jailbreak. Details inside…
As mentioned, there are a few pluses and minuses though.
-Phone will reboot to Home screen
-Can use every stock app on iPhone except Mail and Safari until boot tether
-Can’t use Cydia, or any jailbreak apps and tweaks until boot tether
-Phone can take longer to boot
That’s a pretty good compromise, and sure beats having a looping apple logo if your phone happens to crash or reboot while away from the computer.
Let’s just call it really good jailbreak life insurance, shall we? Video coming shortly!
Have you used Semitethered Jailbreak yet? Are you excited?
What is a semi tethered jailbreak?
The semi-tethered jailbreak will allow you to reboot on the road, but with limited functionality. It is enough that you are no longer stranded, and you can use your phone, text, and many other features. This is just until you get home and can use redsn0w again to “just boot tethered”. Once you do that, you’re back to fully functional state.
Here is a summary of what you can and cannot do when in semi-tethered reboot state:
Can use phone, sms (text messages)
Can use every other stock app on iphone.
Cannot use mobile safari
Can use other appstore web browsers such as atomic web browser
Cannot use mail app. You could install a gmail app from appstore or such instead.
You cannot use any jailbreak tweak, app, cydia until you boot tethered.
While in the semitether booted state, you should not add a jailbreak ios5 notification such as sbsettings to notifications during this state or your device will be stuck in a respring loop until you get home to “boot tethered”.

It's not much - and due to the appsync issue, I certainly won't use it, but it's a step in the right direction at least!

Lolwat? Apple phones are almost impossible to brick. 
And you have iPhone 4, no? So tethered is enough, you never have to restart.

Funnily enough, my iPod froze earlier as well. I hadn't loaded Cydia in a dog's age, so I loaded it up and let it update itself (there was a lot to do and it took a while) but when Cydia automatically rebooted the iPod; it wouldn't come off the Apple logo screen. Just stuck there. No matter how many times I rebooted, it would always freeze on the logo ... even though Windows/iTunes picked it up just fine.
Bah.
Had to power+home cycle it back to the Apple logo, then leave it plugged into iTunes for almost 15 minutes before it finally "unlocked"

Tethered or untethered? This "stuck on Apple logo boot" is typical when booting a tethered-boot JB without tether-boot.
